BSM was never my first choice and the pictures didn't convince me of something else.
Choosing between them two, it would be a clear AW for me. |

In some ways seeing the black pictures has made it harder for me. I don't normally like black cars and was hoping the pictures would look crap but they don't!
It would be far easier for me to have black, daily driver, company car etc but I do have a slight preference for White. I will not have VO. Press pictures and auto show photos look great but the real life images don't do anything for me. How come you only have until Monday? Last edited by as7920; 03-05-2011 at 02:23 PM.. |

AW looked pretty boring on the pics, but it looked good in person (in Geneva). Don't know what to think about VO... beautiful on the most pics, but no idea how it looks in person, so it would be a risk, although it's maybe the best color for this car because it points all the beautiful details out, as for the contrasts (deficit of BSM) and all the nice lines and edges (deficit of AW). |

Black. June 20th.
60/40 in favour if black but my heart says White. Was wondering if changing it to White would bring build date forward but apparently not. At least I have plenty of time to choose. And current car goes back 24th June but in some ways I would like 1M sooner. May get to see it in the flesh before mine arrives. |

Still addicted to VO (the multiple personality car ..... white with BMW racing color stripes is attractive but I have already been through my "carbon black metallic" phase - beautiful when clean, shows every nick/rash, etc. BSM is beautiful, just not for me ......

But it's definitely a critical choice, I really have to see it in person. |

After owing a Carbon Black E39 M5 (which was really more dark indigo blue), I swore never to get another dark car. Black is beautiful when clean, but 5 mins after the car wash you start seeing the slightest spec of dust. Just impossible to keep clean and streak mark/spiderweb free. My SGM 135i is a tad better, but nevertheless dark gray so it does require meticulous upkeep.
The BSM made my choice even easier, I personally think it is the least complementary color for the 1 ///M platform. The lines, creases, angles, transitions, and overall aggressiveness of the 1 ///M to me get lost in translation. So it's back to the VO vs. AW dilemma, but I will stick with my gut feel of VO. I love its chameleon features, and the fact that it is a bold color, and one that many people admire but few are brave enough to own. The orange stitching interior is one other added pro, just won't look as good on an AW car IMO. Lastly, just see too many white cars these days (according to the Dupont survey it is in the top 3 colors of all cars on the road). This, vs. the fact that the VO is unique to the 1 ///M seals the deal.
