UK 1m Production Date
Just got this from my dealer,
Your car is going into production next month and we should see delivery around the middle of April. I have attached the spec that is on the car at the moment. Could you please have a look at it and make sure that I have got everything on it that you wanted? Anybody else got confirmation yet ? |

Not yet for me but here's hoping this is the start of the flood! Although April would be a little too early for me! Would like late May or early June! If you wouldn't mind telling us, when did you place the order and which dealer group? Cheers, Mark. |

Going to email my dealer now as my order went in around the same time as yours. Like as7920 says, I would have preferred it to be may - June time just for financial reasons for me, but I would prefer it earlier than later! Also as 1Mer said ... I also thought that uk launch day was in may and no cars would be delivered before then - but obviously I must be wrong! |

I'm not so sure, you would have thought that there was a lot of ordering going on in early Jan because of the backlog - I bet the rate of orders has declined since then. Also, if the UK has anything like the US system then the dealer status & history will play a large part in where/when the cars are allocated, it may well not just depend on when the customer placed his (or her) order.

What I'm saying is that you will find out when your dates are 6 -8 weeks after placing your order NOT that the actual production/delivery dates WILL be 6 - 8 weeks after ordering. |

as7920: Yeah - that is what I thought you were saying, so no worries there!
As far as I understand it Allocations are being done monthly (at least in the US). If you're not in the March allocations then you have to wait until the April Allocations are released before you find out if you are in them (or not), etc, etc. Sound's like Denso's got a March Allocation and we haven't I suspect that there will be people who ordered in January and won't be told about their allocation for several months yet. Not necessarily saying I'm happy about it, just saying it how I see it! If the 1M is already sold out (more confirmed orders taken than there are production slots available before the end of Production) and someone didn't get their order in quick enough then they might never get that call. Alternatively, if demand is slack then you will probably be able to get a fast Allocation later in the year when all the fuss has died down. Sorry, I just don't see the '6-8 weeks before you get a build date' scenario - but I hope you're right & I'm wrong! I guess only time will tell |

Great news Denso!
I just got an email from my dealer saying that my build slot has been released? What does that mean?? She's asked me to come in today to spec my 1M! However still don't know if I should go for the Sat Nav?

It means that they have date for when the car is going into production. I have went for nearly every option apart from the high beam and the headlights that see around corners lol

They are going to contact BMW this afternoon - hopefully I will get an update!
I know that my order is in the system as my dealer gets emails from them regarding my specific order. I think a week or so ago one of the part/option numbers changes to do with electric folding mirrors and they incorporated it with another option and my order was refered too. So I know they have it - just dont know when I am going to get it! |

Got those lights on my Merc and they're great. Specced them on my 1M as well as the high beam assist.
Keep hands on steering wheel as much as possible! |
