Sport Seats questions

Having been able to be both at the detroit and toronto auto show i have noticed that the 1m comes with the "standard sport seats". One of the key features of this seat is that it has both passenger and driver adjustable side-bolsters equipment.

The question I have is the Canadian configuration does not allow for electric seats without it being a near $5000.00 extra (all options are virtually bundled under one package - so called "executive package"), does this mean that the side bolsters are equipped on all models (being manual seats or electric seats)?

Do the adjustable side bolster's follow the electric seats?
Do the adjustable side bolster's follow the manual seats?

Does the feature appear independently and is equipped on both models?

You get the side bolsters with either option chief.

I am very happy about this!

Having not been spoiled with electric seats (and not willing to pay the Canadian premium on them) I do not have an affinity for them.

Thanks for the information lads!

Is there a picture of the adjustment lever/button (or else) for adjustment of the side bolster. What kind of adjustment is that?

I would be more interested to know if the BMW Performance seats available in Europe would fit in the 1M. If so, how would somebody go about importing those to the U.S.?

I don't think so, although I would be happy to be wrong. I don't think the seats meet federal regulations.

All of the adjustment toggles that i have seen are mounted on the front outside corner of the seat (drivers left and passenger's right). It is a straight forward up-and-down toggle which contracts and expands the side bolsters to suite your size.

Personally, I like to ride on maximum squeeze! I really do like this feature.

That's also my understanding and the reason that the performance seats will not be available through U.S. dealers.

If you want them, you'll have to arrange for someone to buy them in Europe and have them shipped to you ($$$).

I think you'll just lose the insurance discount for removing the side impact airbags. Lots of people remove the stock seats for Sparco or Recaro models. Now, if you don't tell your insurance that they've been removed and you get into an accident... that's another story.

So compared to the lumbar support adjustment (4 directions, also at the front outside of the seats), where is the side bolster adjustment ?

It's further forward from the rest of the switches. The switch toggles in a forward-backward direction.

Sorry, but that's wrong information.
The bmw performance seats are based on the Recaro Sportster with side airbags.

I'll look up some pics.

Edit: pics

Sportster without airbag

Sportster with airbag

Performance seats with airbag

Alcantara with white stitching or will they supply Black Boston leather with Kyalami Orange stitching to go with the rest of the interior?

Inclusion of side airbags is certainly not the restriction.

Adjustment range and being safety tested in BMW's under US standards might be a road that the BMWNA accessoires department is not willing to go.

Some tuners in the US can source these seats for you. I believe Turner is one of them
