October Build Date??????
Got the call from my dealer yesterday. They are getting exactly ONE 1M. And since I was the first guy to order, it's MINE! BUT, they got their build date and it's not til October or maybe November!!
What a sucker punch after they told me April or May at the latest. What will I do this summer without a cool car? Just sold my Elise SC to get this car. Hoping for something to change so the process accelerates a bit. Did anyone else get news like this? when is your bulid date? Just glad I'm getting one. Two other people put in orders after me and they get the green banana. |

FYR Australia is getting 6 (six) cars in March build. Two of which will be press cars so that highlights the theory that they are building very few cars WW as March builds hence they are probably starting prod late in the month?

This is the second instance where I've heard that a dealer has informed a buyer about an October build date.
Doesn't make any sense to me -- unless it's simply a best guess -- since I believe that dealers have only been informed of allocations with a March build date. Neil |

date en later a production number (two weeks inbetween), so my car will be produced september and therefore my conclusion is that there is no allocation on a monthly base. Once a car gets a production number it means its locked in the main orderprogram at BMW HQ in Germany. From then on they know what the ultimate delivry date will be.For some people it might take a some time before getting the prod nr. of the car on order. (thats my exp. on this) |

It's demand. First come first served.

I personally hope to get an October build date. That will fit in perfectly with my plans for ED. Still waiting to hear back from Client Advisor...

I'm afraid I can't get an explanation on the method in which BMW handed out these build dates to dealers around the world. I see a guy in Australia and Arizona with March build dates.
I saw on Bimmerfile that the moderator (Gabe) has an October build date ans my guess is they'd want to get one in his hands ASAP for review purposes. I guess "clout" doesn't come into play here. Just can't wrap my head around this issue. As much as I want this car it makes me consider a TT-RS or Cayman R. |

Bigger dealers that sell more 1-series or M cars will get more and sooner production slots. Smaller dealers will get less and later. That explains the completely different dates some people get. |

Hmmm in which case I could be regretting my dealer choice then.
I had three lined up and went with the middle-sized one. One of the others was part of a huge group and the other only one or two dealer network. |

This is becoming very JIBBERISH for me.
Our deeply praised SCOTT 26 says A and than stops! If its like you said than my car would be produced before a single one for the US, because my order was booked on 01/15/11. But no thats not what im reading here! So again I say, c'mon SCOTT enlight us here! |

Hm. Well I guess I've been #1 at the dealer. Remains to be seen if those of who've waited will even get one. I'm going to be more than a little upset after all this being on the ball etc. and then my dealer gets no allocation. I called 2/16 and my dealer got no allocation at all. Bupkus.
And I bleed blue and white since pre-E30 days. |

This is the kind of crap Ford pulls i.e. "We'll produce X GT500s but...maybe the dealer will get an allocation, maybe not" etc. Not what I expect from BMW. |

guess it goes without saying at this point there's no calling other dealerships to try and find a spot with an earlier build date.
I feel luckier by the minute knowing I'm even getting one. I feel bad knowing there are alot of people who put down a deposit/order and will not be gettiing one. How long before people are selling their order slots on Ebay? |
