2011 E93 - V1 Radar Mirror and iPhone Integration

On this 2011 E93 M3 we decided to install Valentine 1 Radar Mirror with V1 custom enclosure and connect it all to iPhone.

As anticipated, everything works great

About those exposed wires in the second picture showing the mirror... did those get covered up later or is leaving them exposed necessary for the install?

I would not trust the V1 to be held in by those clips when the top goes up and down... That is why I used hot glue.

Position of main unit

Do you think the "reception" from the front on this main unit position is impeded/limited by the seats? What about when the top is closed. Also, I assume use of the wind deflector is a nonstarter?

I've read several reports from folks that have done similar installs in all sorts of various vehicles, not just BMWs. They all report no decrease in performance, except that you lose laser alerts. I'm not willing to lose laser so it's up by the RVM for me. But for those that don't see the point of laser alerting this has the benefit of hiding the unit away. It's very stealthy if you can also hide the display and controls.

Unfortunately, I don't feel putting the display in the mirror is very stealthy. And you need to move your eyes a bit more than I would like to see the display so I don't consider this part optimum but with the 3 series there aren't too many better places to put it without really hacking up the interior. From the pics, Alexshop always seems to do quality work and this has a lot going for it.

If you don't want to tackle this job yourself, then this looks like a good way to go. Congrats again to Alexshop for a slick install.

Cheers,.
