Are you presently a Z4M owner?

I have a 1M ordered; likely to be April production. My daily driver is a Z4M convertible. I have a GT3 for track use. I recently sold my MB S500 and X5 because I don’t need and no longer hanker for their size and comfort. The Z4M is nearly 5 years old, though only 11,000 miles, and I still really enjoy it. As I get closer to the point of no return I find I’m getting prematurely nostalgic. I like the NA S54. I like that some attention is required to get the gear change “right”. I like that it doesn’t always feel super refined. I like the low seating position and impractical nature of a 2 seater.

Am I likely to love the 1M more than I’ll miss the Z4M?

It's interesting that so many 135i, M3 and Z4M owners will be buying the 1M!

I was a Z3 M coupe owner, also with the S54 (2002) and I do get a bit nostalgic over it. I sold it about a year ago in anticipation of the 1M but overall I really don't regret it because the 1M will be both more practical and more fun IMO. The M coupe was the toy car that only saw weekend use in good weather so I only put 3000 miles on it during the three years I owned it. I'm positioning the 1M to become my new daily driver so I hope to actually get more enjoyment out of it. Driving the M coupe only occasionally did make it feel like a rush though every time I drove it. I plan on driving the 1M "nicely" during my normal commuting and really only opening it up on the weekend drives so hopefully that will preserve some of the "wow" factor. I really did love how the M coupe sat so low and felt almost like a kart though!

I currently own a 2007 Z4M Coupe. I'm the original owner of the car and have had it for 3 years. In that time, I've racked up 62K miles on the car and have loved every minute of it. It's such a raw car with so much emotion. I love the fact that it is so simple....no i-drive, etc. I am currently leaning towards going with the 1M for the simple fact that I would like something a bit more practical, but also keeping with that sense of enjoyment I get when driving my M Coupe.

I'm not sure any of the current BMW engines can give me the feeling the S54 does. Revving to 8K and hearing this engine scream is something I'm going to have a hard time giving up. I have no interest in being the first to get the 1M, so i don't have a deposit down. If the car comes out and I love it as much as I love my car, then I'll figure out a way to get it. In the meantime, my car is meticulously maintained and still looks and feels new, so i have no reason to want to part ways with this car just yet. Yes, maintenance is super expensive at this point, but I don't really care. I love this car.

I had a Z4M coupe, one of the most beautifull cars ever made
It was really something special.
I now have a 335i. I really like it, but do not love it in the way as the Z4M. It is more practical, more sophisticated, and on the track also faster then my Z4M. The Z4M was more rewarding though.
I am going for the 1M to get some of that back. More rewarding driving experience, but still enjoying the torque of the N54 which is fantastic. No, it will not by a Z4M, but I think it will better fit my needs and I will enjoy it more, also as a daily driver.

Yeah in 10-20 years I think the z4mc will age better than a 1m. The z4mc is so classic and beautiful, prob the best expression of Bangles design. I love the 1m, jus wondering how the looks will hold up to age.

I am the happy owner of z4m. I have the extended warranty until June 2013 and extended maintainence till June 2012.

I'm also attached to it partly because I have low miles on it, so in some ways it feels like I just got the car!

As others have said, the z4m tends to stay in the garage while the car with the back seat goes on the longer trips. The 1M is attractive because of the practicality factor and the likelihood of using it more - more opportunities to enjoy it.

I won't be in the first group of buyers. Maybe toward end of production.

I'm still debating whether I want to keep my 135 and later add a Z4 M Coupe/Roadster to the stable, or go for the 1M. I guess it will probably come down to the amount available in the US and how Euro Delivery allocations work out.

I doubt the 1M will be more raw than the Z4M but we'll see.

You have a amazing car, the 1M is very cool, (I have 1 on order) but the only problem I see.. it does not rev over 8000 like your baby.. I think it'S GONNA FEEL MORE NORMAL! good luck

Did you sell it with only 3000 miles on it? Does that few of miles bring a premium in the used market vs. a normal 25K or so?

Well, I wasn't the first owner. I bought it in 2006 with 9500 miles on it, so the previous owner didn't drive it much during four years of ownership. I sold it at the end of 2009 with just under 13000 miles on it for $34k, which is exactly what I paid for it! That was definitely a premium compared to other S54 Z3Ms with higher mileage.

Very interesting. Cool that you got to use the car for 3 years for basically free.
