To those who saw Valencia Orange in person

Hi there!

I've red a lot about VO the last days and also stared at the same pictures on and on again. Yes, it's a color you can't photograph easily and yes, it seems hard to describe what it looks like.

I won't have the chance to see it in person before midth of march here in Switzerland, but I placed my order (I really want it as soon as possible) and got to decide now about the color definitely.

I hope those people who saw the car already in person can help me with this question:
The colour depends highly on the light condition. But depending on the lighting, how orange did the car look? Was it a very bright orange all over the car or a orange with a more darker tone in it?

Does that color tone look more realistic (tends more to copper orange in the darker areas and brighter orange in the brighter spots):

Or is it that one (tends more to an overall bright, fruity orange / ignore the woman for a moment ):

Or is even that more realistic, which is more a high glossy red than orange:

remember that honda had an Element that was sort of orange...
you're probably not too far off from that...is what I've been told by one who has seen it in person.

I haven't seen in it person. But I think the answer to your question is "all of the above". It seems to be a very dynamic color which can appear anything from brilliant orange/red (i.e. how it appeared at Detroit) to a copper/bronze when either under direct sunlight or dusky lighting conditions (see recent pics on the interstate headed to Florida).

I personally like the idea of it constantly appearing different depending on time of day and weather conditions. But to each their own.

That's my point, especially those pictures have no value without a reference.
It looks brown, red, orange, bright orange, ... just everything and just confusing on bad pictures.

I don't mean the ones of the car on the highway. They tweeted some updated static shots in a garage which look more indicative of the oranginess of the vo IRL

Many of the photos I've seen remind me of the Corvette Atomic Orange.

Does it look anything like it in person?

Must be my eyes or the iPad screen but that looks orange to me!

Just the reason I wouldn't have orange. White for me I think.

The indoor photos at the shows, and the outdoor photos on the car driving seem to be really quite far off. VO is a *very *pretty color. The more muted photos.. In the other listed thread, the photos outside the hotel, on the lift inside (also reposted above in this thread) , and especially the photo outside at night are the way that the car looked when I saw it in Leipzig on the production floor and at the unveling. The room where the unveiling was done was a large room with no windows and not a lot of direct light and it was night time. It is definitely a very classy burnt orange, not an " in your face" orange like the M3 GTS, the Fahrenheit VW Golf, or the special edition Boxster. Even on the production floor in full indoor light. it never looked as bright as some of the CES photos.

I am sure that the sun will play some tricks, but certainly thje color is going to change much more for (due to) the camera than the human eye. Again... unless one is looking for a really bright orange, I really doubt that anyone would be disappointed in it. In the STEP 2 video, you can see that several people commented on how cool a color it is, even though it is not a color that they initially would have seen themsleves as liking. It really does look good, and the black parts (rear valance, and especially the side mirrors) contrast nicely, way better than white actually, and of course on all black cars these items don't stand out but are all the same.

That is one ugly looking color in that light in the shop. I really like the VO photos from the Detroit show. If the color was actually like that I would be happy with the VO.

I am again leaning hard towards White.

speedometer shows MPH, so i'm guessing not. it's pre-production. they said it was missing some of the final config (including the paint), so don't sweat the details. it's still a badass car.

The first picture you posted does it the most justice.

This is my buddy John's photography site: ExiFocus

His pics do a great job of depicting the tone and hues of the car. You can't get a good feel on just how much metallic flake is in there, but shy of getting the car out in the sun and shooting from the right angles, I'm not sure it'd be easy to capture that...

Trust me, you won't regret your choice.

I saw it in person in Detriot car show, and the color looked exactly the same as in this video:

I wish it was more a high glossy red than orange though!!

Euro models have also xenons and auto climate as standard equipment.

These are great pics, thank you!
As you said, it shows the car in a very balanced lighting situation but it looks to me like that this is definitely the base color of VO, a darker orange with a tone of copper. Additionally the sun will do it's tricks with the metallic effect but yes, it's surely difficult to capture. What comes out is mostly a crap mixture from orange-brown to orange-red, which is an awful combination that gives me the shivers ("gives me the shivers", is that proper English btw? Don't know why that expression came to my mind)

Anyway, I'll ignore the bad pictures and will go for VO now. We have a lift-off!

This kind of colour changes to much in different lighting. I had the same story on my competion E46 M3. It was nice blue in de sun but when the car gets a bit dirty and no sun the colour was more purple then blue. I made a big mistake choosing this colour.

I feel that Vo is the same like the blue i had.

I want a colour that is always the same. So it s either white or black. I wish i could choose the M3 CSL colour --> silver gray.
