engine oil level!

Hey guys, i got a message warning me that my engine oil level was at its minimum level and to add a qt of engine oil. I thought this was kinda weird seeing as how i just have 2k miles on the car and brought it in a couple weeks ago for its "break in" service.

Well I took it to the dealership and they topped it off for me and gave me an extra bottle to go lol I just want to know if this has happened to anyone? and is it normal?

Thanks

Yes it happened to me at about 1000mi. I put in a quart at local parts store because my message was I was low and should put a quart in right away. I made the mistake of puttting in 10w 50 instead of 5w 60 because in a panic i read the 3 series manual instead of the M supplement. With in a half mi. of driving off I got an overfill message. I called the dealer and they said this was a common prob with a new M. Anyway I started to drive to dealer to get oil removed but the warning went off on the way so I went home. I had the breakin service done soon after and have had no more issues and no excess oil consumption. I was told to always top off with a 1/4 quart at a time because the electronic sensor isn't to exact. They should have put in a dip stick the dip sticks.
