Sprint Booster - Installed!
Wow! what a difference this simple mod makes. The car is completely transformed . No more hesitation whatsoever when you give it gas off idle. I literally just finished installing this mod and took the car for a quick spin around the neighborhood. There's three settings you can put it on - 1)stock 2) sport 3)race. I was trying it in the race setting and I'm just not use to having the power of the M3 available for me right there, that fast. It's kinda hard to describe how this mod transforms the car but I guess the best way to describle this mod is it feels like I have the torque of a C63 AMG off the line. The thrust off the line is insane now, atleast in the race mode. In the sport mode it tones down a little bit. This mods not for everyone. If you're not a spirited driver this probably isn't worth it. Oh boy I can't wait to drive to work tomorrow

not so much. there is still a lag with the stock sport button. the car feels sluggish when you turn off the sprint booster after you have had it for a while, even though you are talking about fractions of a second.
the race mode is a little too twitchy for me |

I'm telling you guys - buy one, try it and see for yourself. You have a 30day return policy if you don't like it. I ordered from Turner Motorsports, who were great to deal with.
On the way to work this morning I was in the race setting and that setting appears to have taken almost the entire lag out of the DCT. Need more driving time with this booster. In the sport setting the lags still there a little bit. And when I turn off the booster the car feels like a turd off the line. |

Not even close.

large difference. The sport plus (or the race as i call it) with the booster is pretty sensitive when you drive. Could be too sensitive for some people. You can switch from the race to the sport setting with the booster and it's still a big improvement versus the stock sport setting. |

I put the sprint booster on 2011 M3 three weeks ago and the OP is correct. It feels more like a link throttle (cable or rod) rather than e-gas (which seems to have a lag in all settings). The response is right now when you push on the gas. I tracked the car before putting this on and the lag effect was not felt as you are using large throttle inputs. But on the street, it makes driving a better experience, the car feels lighter (just a feeling) as the response is quicker. I also find the race (or third) setting a bit too much and use the second setting in sport mode for driving on the street (sport plus for the hills). If you don't believe it does something, they gave you the off button taking it back to stock so it is real easy to feel the difference.

Maybe it's just me, but I LIKE the stock throttle response. Allows you to be VERY granular with throttle. If I want to go faster, I push the pedal harder.

probably is a personal preference. I did not like the e-throttle in the 996 carrara, and 996 twin turbo was very hard to start off in first gear (manual 6 sp) the throttle was so mushy. The e-gas in a 360 Modena was very good and allowed control which made starts (again 6-sp) easy by comparison. Like I said, on the track no need.
I think some peoples complaint about lack of torque in the V8 M3 might be related to the e-gas. It feels more torquey with this gaget. |

I cant vouch for the Sprint Boosters performance on an M3 but I can on my previous ride which was a 06 S65. It made a world of difference on throttle response for this application and god knows I needed to be able to get the waste gates open quicker so the fuel mileage stayed at 7 to 8 a gallon and the rear tires melted down in 2500 miles... Thanks Renntech and Sprint Booster...... By the way I'm ordering one today for the M.

Don't judge till you try it, its actually very different than pressing the gas pedal down more.

Sounds like my 335. Maybe you bought the wrong car?
A twitchy throttle is HORRIBLE on the track. I tried the 335 in Sport on the track... just terrible. The M3 is nice and linear, which is what I prefer. The M3 is not made to have torque off the line. The 335 is MUCH better for that.

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

Just an update. Driving the car with the booster more. I love it! The sport, green button is perfect for daily driving. The race setting, the red button is great for spiritied runs. Zero buyers remorse with this mod, in fact I wish it was my first mod!

http://www.sprintboosterusa.com/ I just learned about it thanks to a form member on here. I was very skeptical at first. This mod was what I needed for my M3. |

It does make a difference. It gets rid of the ECU idiot-proofing safety lag in the throttle, you just have to use more foot control, which I like. You choose the input rather than the ECU. It makes blipping much easier too for double clutching. Green is great day to day, but the red makes the car lurch a little too much for me. I suspect a lot of chip tunes use this aspect of throttle control to help make the car feel more powerful and 'instant'. It is really easy to mount, however, be careful of the plastic lug on the base plate of the throttle switch/pedal. I broke mine, and it doesn't seem to affect the stability of the pedal, but I broke it getting the pedal out before I realized what had happened.
If you want a more 'urgent' throttle response, it is perfect. If you like the factory feel, don't get it. It is difficult to go back once you have put it on, because you become acutely conscious of the throttle response seeming slow. I tried to see the difference, but didn't like it. Based on the Powerchip literature, they take this lag out of the throttle signal too when you use their tune. I don't work for Sprint Booster either, but you can see why they got a SEMA award. |
