car service dilema
Hey guys looking for some advise.
A few months back i brought my car in for an unscheduled (pay out of my own pocket) oil change. i arrived home to find my car was damaged. it looked like someone carelessly ran the rocker panel onto a curb. Not sure if it was the mechanic or valet boy. i went back to dealership, they said they would make things right. This was 7-8months ago. i am still waiting on the part (painted now waiting for 3m shield). My car is up for the scheduled service. The place has good reviews on the board here, poppin fresh and a few others also vouch for it as did i. The SA is great and he made things work out, so far. Should i return there for service? it is a longer drive for me and paul miller is closer, but i never went there so don t know about their services. Also, i know the car needs to be driven to check the oil level. i don t want no valet or the mechanic to drive the car. Is that too an unusual request? its a 70K car and i go through so much caution and care not to have it damaged i feel giving it to anyone who doesn't know the value of your hard work just doesn't give a shit. The phrase "i didn't do that to the car, it was there already..." echos in my head. thanks in advance. i hope for some useful answers. |

Thanks for the info illusion.
anyone else? I am bouncing the idea of of taking the car to a private mechanic shop for service. Are there any private mechanic shops that get paid from bmw maintenance program? any shops you have experience will be of great help. |

I'm sorry to hear this. I'm sure they will make it right with the proper amount of reminding. If this is the same dealer and SA then I'm sure you'll be taken cared of.

So a couple weeks ago Jim Reed came through with the rocker panel that matches pretty well. He and Prestige really came through.
Thank you for making things right. |

not to judge, but it took them more than 6 months to 'come through' - sounds like a place to avoid to me....

Jim is also my SA and I think he is great... But 6 months also seems long.
By the way, at no times during my 4 oil changes so far, has the car been driven by tech nor valet for checking the level. 8 1/2 quarts added and all is right.

Really? Wow this is a first. I usually don't hear a lot of negativity about PM. They always took care of my mom's x5, then again I worked for PM Land Rover so I guess it's like taking care of family.
