AA Exaust+N55=Pretty awesome
So finnally got around to making a video but dont get excited because the sound quality sucks.
The exhaust is really nice id give AA 4 stars on this one only because the fitment on this thing sucks. Its waaaaay to far to the right and only about a quarter of an inch away from touching the diffuser. i feel like it would go another inch to the right if the hangers let it but the fitment is really bad i installed it got pissed enough that i took it of and put it back on but that didnt work so im just dealing with it. Other than that though its a super nice exhaust and id buy it again if i could do it all over again. Last edited by N55 Power; 10-30-2010 at 06:49 PM.. |

Nice work N55 Power.
I'll be the first to tell you videos don't do the AA exhaust justice. Your setup sounds similar to my AA exhaust on the N54 but it definitely has a different tone to it. Yours sounds a lot deepier or huskier whereas mine sounds a bit more raspy. I think that's the best way to describe it. Anyways, I've had mine on for a while and the more mileage I put on it, the more civilised it's starting to sound, which is definitely a good thing. It's quietened down and the drone is only 70% of what it used to be. I agree with the fitment not being 100% perfect. I've had the exhaust installed by a workshop twice and they said there is no way around it. I even have a few scuffs and scratches along the bent part of the exhaust from forcing it to sit more to the left. I have heard of someone on here using clamps to hold it in place which I might do later down the track but it doesn't bother me too much right at the moment. Overall, I'm glad I went with the AA exhaust. Initially when I had it installed I thought about changing over to another setup because of the constant drone at cruising speeds between 2200-2700rpm but as I said earlier, it quietens down after it breaks-in and you put some km's on it. I also thought it was too loud at first but now some months later I'm looking at complimenting it with downpipes and midpipes! For the price you can't really go wrong and if you want something aggressive with a nice finish then it's your best option. You summed it up pretty well in saying... |

Wow thats amazing... i did get to fixing it by loosening the hangers with wd-40 and then ziptieing it to the right position but now it is so far over that the bend hits that silver suspension piece and its Rattling maybe i could have saved a couple hundered bucks and allot of hassle buy just buying a berk muffler delete.

It doesn't sound like hes enjoying it? Ziptied exhaust on a BMW and rattling to fix the placement? Maybe ive missed something but if you guys knew the fitment was bad and fixed it on your newer models shouldn't you compensate him?

The issue of fitment was found in the bracket above the noise cancellation chamber on the exhaust. I created a thread on this about 6 months ago. Many people found that the bracket was installed backwards therefore pulling the exhaust to the right instead of centering it. The bracket that was in discussion was the one above the noise cancellation chamber. Most owners of the exhaust found this to be the fix for the problem. Some found out they had the exhaust installed incorrectly by people who weren't following the attached installation instructions.

We didn't have any issues when the exhaust was installed at Active Autowerke and I spoke to several of my dealers who installed the exhaust and had no problem with the fitment. So to answer your question, no we didn't know about the fitment until some of the forum members brought attention to it. We immediately assisted all who were affected and some had their exhaust brackets replaced.
