Stock exhaust sound V's Akrapovic
I thought i would put together a little video or the stock exhaust tone while idling and free revving and doing the same with an Akrapovic Evolution Titanium exhaust system. I thought it may help some of you make the final decision. Let me know what you think.

The akra actually sounds a bit louder than stock with a nice bass rich sound with a softer exotic note due to its titanium material. It also does not drone unlike most after market exhaust. The Vids don't actually do justice to the akra's actual exhaust note in my opinion. You should listen to them first hand to know what I mean.

I have to say that the stock sounds better. However, YOUR stock sounds better than any other I've heard. Go figure.

your stock seems to sound better than mine did when it was still on the car.

The Akra sounds seems to have more bass. That's my preference.

I was not at all impressed with the sound of the Akrapovic in person. It's louder, but not better, IMO. The performance gains are hard to argue with though.

I think it sounds better than stock. I'm not so sure it sounds better than an Eisenmann Sport though. Eisenmann may be the best sounding muffler. It's definitely equal on build quality.

I find the biggest difference to be past 4K RPM. In high RPM, the stock exhaust is extremely muted and quiet and definitely does not sound like a sports car. The Akrapovic on the other end really brings out the sound of the V8.
It's extremely obvious when watching a car with the stock exhaust vs. a car with the Akra go down the straights of a racetrack. The clip is not representative as it does not go very high in the RPMs.

funny how the akra sounds crap even in person.... i have heard the akra and the other types of exhaust in person and they usually sounds crap.... although the benefit youll get from it is weight reduction and some 5-10 hp gain which is not noticeble.
if your looking for a good sound for the M3 and dont care much about the quality nor weight reduction... MOD YOUR OEM EXHAUST AND YOU WONT REGRET A SINGLE THING IT SOUNDS THE BEST OVERALL... |
