Price of a CPO 08 128?
I want to take ED on a new car, but I'm too impatient
My dealer has a CPO 08 128 with ~50k on the clock. It appears that the only option on it is the Sport Package (no M shifter or wheel, but it does have sport seats). My CA doesn't deal the the CPOs so he didn't know the price and it wasn't on the car itself, but based on their website it looks like they are asking $31,900 Now I know that is way over priced, but what would be a reasonable price on such a car if I went this route (no new 128s with a manual in stock) rather than the 135 DCT (I've fallen off my anti-135 wagon ) that I drove today? Thanks, -dave |

I don't want to sound too critical, but the car is way overpriced, and your reason for not doing a European delivery is lame. Why would anyone pay almost retail for a three year old car with almost 50K. Get a new car and go to Germany.

50k miles on an '08 is on the high side too, I wouldn't even consider it. I'm sure you can find others.

Wait and do the EU delivery, it would be well worth the wait and you would get a brand new car with everything you want in it.

It drives nice and I would seriously think about it, but there is no chance they would sell it for a reasonable price. I really don't understand the CPO market when most of the time it seems you can pick up a new one for not much more money (or less in this case if you spec'd it the same). I would imagine they would come down some, but why fight over a used car when I don't even have to argue with my CA for $500 over invoice on a new one? I'm the target "have to have it now" type buyer and even I have to walk away shaking my head... I really would consider a nice CPO 128 like this (it does have 50% of it's warranty left after all) if the price reflected that it was ~3 years old and had 50k on the clock. Oh well. Thursday I order a new one (yes I'm doing ED since I'm ordering anyway, but January is the soonest we can go get it). Still can't decide between the 128 MT or 135 DCT though. I really like the later, but I really like the price tag of the former (and I really do like the 128). At least I know I'll be happy either way, even if I do end up flipping a coin for it.... |

Picking it up in January. Germany may require snow tires even for temporary licensing. I'm assuming you want to drive for a few days. Check with your CA for exact details. There is also a Xmas shutdown.

I looked into it. IIRC Germany doesn't (though it is strongly advised), but the Alpine countries do. That kills our initial plan of touring the Alps since we wanted to drop off in Nice (the place that rents the winter tires only has drop off points in Germany). So now we are going to tour in such a way that we end up back in Munich at the end.

While I purchased my '07 328i wagon from that dealership a few months ago and got what I considered to be a very fair deal, I don't understand their price at all - unless the mileage is mis-stated by a factor of 10!
If you are willing to forego the ZSP, a similar car with 1,000 miles is offered at the same price in Towson. http://www.bmwusa.com/standard/conte...fmJUzz4yYtqk4H Tom |
