It could blow the tranny if you use it too many times.

If on a 6mt, a common problem that has arisen are tweaked and bent subframes, and the bracket and bolt that locate the rear diff breaking. This could ruin the whole geometry of the rear suspension, put strain on the axles and is dangerous to drive on. This has happened to a few people so far. The new e9x m3's just aren't engineered to take a beating as the old e46's. Some subframe connectors would be a good solution, but none are out yet.

I'd like to see that happening above, E46's rip the subframes out from repeated launching. I don't see what you said above happening at all.

It stresses everything in the drivetrain, clutches, gears, u-joints, axle shafts, etc. I find that most folks who have spent any time working on cars, will generally engage it one time.

If you own the car, I would not use it very much. However, if it is leased......

j never blew the tranny, his discs were worn out prematurely d/t launching his car many times. if your referring to him building his tranny its because he's going to make big power and wanted to bulletproof weak links

True, but the e46's had the aftermarket to solve that problem. A few people I know have had these problems with their e9x and shops like autotalent have also reported the same. Maybe sam himself will chime in.

From an engineering standpoint, nothing about the E46 M3 is superior to the E92 M3. Not the chassis, not the frame, not the electronics. You MAY be able to debate the engine, but I the S65 is a wonder in itself just like the S54.

So, to politely put it, I cannot agree with you on this.

Ignore a certain person's comments regarding Sticky's trans, as that is a case of severe abuse. The only result? Worn clutches...that's it. There isn't a single case of the DCT trannie failing due to power or launching. Your local BMW dealer is probably your DCT's biggest risk .

You take the Internet too seriously pg if you read anything in this thread as an "attack". You're the only one I see "causing drama" in this thread.

The gtr is a totally different beast - power, design, warranty, the way you access launch control. Didn't they take out launch control altogether in the second MY?

Anything on the car will fail with abuse.

The last thing we need is a generation of constipated people that are scared to drive the car the way it was intended to be driven.

If dct damage were so widespread, then why is no one talking about it on the Internet? We all know this is where the world comes to complain.

You bought this car? The issue here would be more along the lines of what other type of hard use did the car get? Now and then LC use isn't going to kill the car, but if the previous owner is telling you 30 time I'd have to wonder if that's a bit understated....

I'm not saying you need to freak out. Rather, I'd try to find out what else I could about the previous driver's use so I could plan for the future.

CPO? Under warranty?
