Thought I'd introduce myself too!
Hi 1Addicts, I've been lurking a bit but figured I'd formally sign in.
I just placed an order earlier this week for a 2011 128i Coupe in Le Mans Blue & Boston Gray leather, M-Sport, Premium and Steptronic. I've never been so excited about a new car, and I've had 2 Audi A4s and an IS250 currently... but that lease is ending and I want something edgier. I'm 26, three 4-door cars down, I figure now's the time in my life to drive a Coupe. Ultimately, driving the 1 was what swayed me... I had test drove two 3-series models, a Mini Cooper S, a 135i... but the 128i gives me the best practicality and won't get me into tickets as easily as the 300 turbo-charged ponies on the 135 My usual commute is heavy city traffic, where you're lucky to get 40MPH, but the handling and sure-footedness swayed me. I found this forum to be of considerable help in just a few days, so thanks already Funny story was that my sales advisor says "we can find that car in the Southeast US, I think..." He thumbs through it... checks in their master computer of inventory... no dice... so he goes "we'll need Germany's help on this one, that Blue color is not lying around... 6-8 weeks ok?" Good stuff, they gave me a free hat |

Welcome and nice choice of color, 128i is not a bad car you going to enjoy your new ride.

Very nice. I have the same colour combo in my 123d vert. However, for some reason, I got all gray doors, not black with contrasting gray panels. This may be an Aussie vs US thing, though. I'll be interested in how yours ends up.
Wow only 6 weeks. I had to wait 5 months! Cheers, Alf

Awesome! You will enjoy it. Those of us with discerning tastes who just wont settle for black, white or silver, almost always have to special order to get what we really want. It's always worth it in the end. Have fun!

I like what they've done with the Gray. It used to be all gray, but the two tone gray/black is nice. Only ~2% of 1ers are Le Mans Blue, and they all have the M-Sport package (as required for the color) and trust me, it's worth the wait!
It's a change for the 2011 model year. Gray is now two-tone leather.

Got an update today, in production, estimated completion by September 21st... ordered on the 7th and they started building it less than a week later, pretty fast. The long wait is gonna be waiting for the ship, the crossing and then customs I figure.

Very nice! Not a lot of 1ers out there with gray interior (which is kind of odd). Post lots of pics once you get it!!

I just picked up my 2011 BMW 135i Coupe. I test drove both the 128i amd 135i and there is no comparison in power! I did want to get the 128i convertible with the m package and all the bells and whistles but then got a nicely packaged 135i coupe trading the roof for power and glad I did it! With the DCT trans and the power this car has it puts a smile on my face every time I get in it! I can't wait to go to work the next day and drive in it! I really do feel like I own a M car! Its that fast! I am still in break in period so have to wait until I can really get on it.
But good luck with the purchase just hope the HP in the 128i is enough for you.

I drove the 128 and the 135 back to back. Both were a blast, the 135 has gobs more power on tap but it's more than I need. My history of engines are two 1.8T Audi A4s and currently a Lexus IS250- neither made much more than 200HP so the 1's 230 is plenty to go around. Plus it's a lease so 36 mos from now I could always reconsider
