Defective Paint

Defective paint...

I have a spot on my roof above the rear window to where it looks like the clearcoat is bubbling away from the sedona red paint. I'm getting it looked at by a BMW rep tuesday (9/14) but wanted to know if any other 1-series owners have had this problem from new factory paint.

It's really hard to tell from your pics, but it looks like either acid rain damage or bird dropping damage. Have you tried any abrasives to correct it?

Yes, my detailer told me it's the actual paint that is the problem. He compounded the car saturday, this was the first time under my ownership, I've only had the car for about 3 months.

Its below the clearcoat, almost like rock chips but its smooth to the touch. the area affected is roughly an inch wide and about 3 inches in length.
