Urgent! Is the 2012 coupe going to be different?
Hey,
Really need to know if the 2012 1-series coupe will change the model??? Is there going to be a huge difference btww the 2011 and the 2012 one? Is it just a refresh? what will they be changing? I'm kinda panicking cause I just ordered a bmw series 1 and the salesman told me it wouldn't change for atleast some 4-5 years more? Is he wrong? |

the next gen 1 series is a few years out at least, and i'd much rather have this generation. 4 cyl. turbo < 6 cyl. twin turbo |

for cars built after late Sept, there should be some minor changes. I thnk I recall something about a better I-drive software and some other changes. Like the base stereo being HiFi and the optional one being the H.K. unit. I would still suggest getting the H.K. I am sure BMW will make some changes - just like they do every M.Y.

Every car has changes every year..whether they be subtle or major. There's no point panicking over having the "latest" model. If you like the 2011 version then get it, or lease it until you see something better. Otherwise enjoy the car now instead of waiting another year without it.

I guess if the 1M is a 2012 model and it ran for 2yrs, then a new 1 is coming in 2014? |

I heard the HK system in a new 335iS. I was not impressed at all. It has some volume, but the sound had a compression quality to it. I could even hear the compression pumping, like when a recording studio compressor is set incorrectly. It was quite annoying. I even turned off the pointless Logic7 and the compression quality was still there. My basic "hi-fi" system doesn't have that annoyance. No way I would spend money for that HK "upgrade". |

I have the HK in my 125i vert and have not had that problem at all...... maybe a fault in that vehicle or have you noticed the problem in more than one vehicle?
Also I believe the 1'er system is different to the HK in the 3 series.

You just have to come to terms with the fact that no matter when you buy your car it will ultimately be bested in a few years by an "improved" model. I'm actually very pleased that the 08 are holding up over the years, unlike, say the 2010 Mustang which was completely overhauled to compete with the Camaro the following year. I would be pissed if I got stuck in that situation. Or if I bought a new 350z right before the 370 came out.
