Painting grill idea...might be ghetto

crimson car.

anyway i picked up an oem set of front kidneys cheap.

so i was going to do gloss black on the outside (keeping with the shadowline theme), and then do the slats flat black to match the lower grills.

I know this has been done, and i think will look best.

Today going though my painting supplies i came across a can of block paint in red (not really crimson) but got me thinking.

I know i won't be able to match the crimson without buying a quart of the paint and i don't want to put that kind of money into this...so painting the outside red is out for me. But what about some red vertical slats (there is some pretty briight red left over from a previous project). My instincts are NFW...anyone think it will actually look ok? the car is going to otherwise stock except for an eibach drop...

Needs to be the same color red to look good, imo. The exact same color.

Red slats would look horrible, even if it were color matched. Just my opinion.

Just going gloss outside, matte inside.

Anyone have pics of a black '135i' on a red car. i've seen blue, silver and white and like the look. I'm assuming it will show enough on my car to make it work too.

If you can get your car to look exactly like the one in the pic, go for it, it looks really clean in my opinion

well, it's only paint, so i think i'm going to try it.

going to wait till after the holiday, weather should be better, it's simply too hot out right now.
