Rev-Matching for Up-Shifts?
Still learning the heel-toe downshift. I decided to try rev-matching for up-shifting. When i shift up into the next higher gear, for example from 1-2, 3-4, or 5-6, (i.e. 2-3; depress clutch pedal, lightly depressing the gas pedal to keep revs in 2-4k rpm range, shift from 2nd to 3rd gear while revs are still in the 2-4k rpm range, release clutch pedal) I'm not going WOT but these are techniques i am applying to my daily driving.
I notice that acceleration times are a lot quicker as opposed to regular up-shifting. Has anyone tried this approach? Does it cause wear to the clutch, synchros, tranny? Is this recommended? I thought I read somewhere that it might. Thanks for your advice, M3Rolly |

I think you would be more mechanically friendly if you allow the revs to drop a couple of hundred rpm before getting back on the gas.
For quicker shifts, theres Flat shifting. Basically you keep your throttle mash to the firewall while you clutch in, upshift and dump the clutch without lifting off the throttle. Again, its not mechanically friendly. Unless it is a track car and you are chasing thousandth of a second.
