What happens at a BMW "port"
Some of you may have already seen this.
It's really pretty cool to see some of what happens at a port when a new BMW comes in. This is where the "port installed" items are put in. http://www.e90post.com/vpc/index.asp.htm Working at the port has a great perk of allowing the workers to drive a cool range of BMW's for 15k miles and then return it and get a NEW one! Very cool. It's also interesting to note that BMW used to dyno the engines at port in the past. Now, it's done at the factory randomly. So, some of us may have a 1 that has actually been dyno'd. Gives a certain insight into the need for a "by the book" break in. But, let's not get into that. It's a really cool site to see what happens, and how clean the port looks. |

Very cool, thanks! But a little disconcerting to think my car could be repaired and repainted before I even get it from my ED. Keeping my fingers crossed that my baby survives the trip unscathed.

One of my E30's came with a document stating that it had been dyno tested at the factory and included a warranty addendum because of the deviation from the standard break-in policy. If I remember correctly it was the Regensburg factory and although I received notice - I did not receive the results...
