Gloss Black Numbers w/ a red "I"

i've got a black on red 135i . . . I don't want any chrome on the car and was planning to make my deck badge match the black performance grill.

thinking of painting the "i" in 135"i" red (to match the coral red interior) while re-badging the car with gloss-black "135"

I want something subtle but different.... what do you think?

Definitely different, although I dont know how noticeable the 135 part will be against the black. Worth a try though.

If Bimmian ever gets their act together and I actually receive the '135i' badge I ordered back in mid May I will paint it red and put it on a Jet Black 135i in an overall Black and Red scheme. So far it looks good but the red badge might be pushing it - but we'll see....

If not I'll do a matte black on Jet Black.

Post pix when you get the red 'i' on might look real good - like the red '1' in 1ADDICTS.

Could work well if you have minor red accents on the rest of the car. I prefer matte black on a black car to provide some contrast.

OK...... today while driving around in LA i saw a 2009 BMW 750il with the "IL" in red..... totally turned me off.

I'm changing my stance: i'm going with a red "1" and 35i in matte black.

I really appreciate everyone's feedback.

not feelin it. sounds too much like something you'd see on a Honda for some reason.

however I do love the matte emblems and did black on black on my old 3er.

I ended up getting a set of Matte Black emblems, and I plan to paint the "1" red.... gonna do it this weekend, and will put up pics.

In the meantime, I'm ordering another matte black "1" in case it comes out cheesy!

rsjean - yesterday I received my black 135i emblems from Bimmian, so you may want to call them ( I had to ). Just an FYI.... I received individual pieces, so it may be a little difficult to apply them - think there is a DIY on here though.

I got mine too. They were going to be my backup set in case I was not happy with the Tisher OEM set I bought for painting. Turned out the adhesive in the OEM set is so thin on the back of the pieces it just didi not work well with the layers of added paint and clar coat on the sides of each piece. They needed to have adhesive tape that had a little more thickness to them.

Viola... the Bimmian pieces had thicker tape. So I painted the matt black pieces RED and installed them.

The tape template and install 'system' to install the OEM pieces as one piece sure would have been a lot easier but I made a pretty detailed and precise tempate of my own using blue painters tape for easy removal after install.

So it went very well and they are in exactly the same position as the OEM's. Only RED.
