Oil reservoir cap
Yet another oil related question.
I have noticed that there is a slight leaking of oil from the oil reservoir. I have checked the black cap which seals the unit and it appears sound. Has anyone has this or is it "just one of those things" Flapps

Yup - same issue here although have noticed if you clean the seal and then give it a light smearing of oil before putting it back on - it stops leaking (at least until you next take it off at which point you have to repeat the clean/smearing process).

yes this is a reported problem. basically if you take it off you'll notice that gasket has come away from the cap. I had this and it created a bit of a mess in the engine compartment.
part number 11121405452 is a replacement cap from the E46 M3 which BMW told us is a fix for this. Oh and its got a cool ///M logo on it too you can see the old one has a much wider contact part. Since putting this on I've not any issues. Neil.
