What downpipes / midpipes / axle back combo are you running?

I want to get a full exhaust setup and a FMIC before scooping up the JB3 and DCI combo. For the FMIC I'm leaning towards AMS, mainly because they are local. Anyone have thoughts on their product? Anyway back to the question at hand, what downpipes, midpipes, axle back combo are you guys running? I wish AA made midpipes, I was thinking of going AA axle back and downpipes with Berk midpipes. Any thoughts on how those would work together? Anyone have any better suggestions? Thanks for the input.

I'm running AR coated, catless dps with stock midpipes and the MadDad axleback. I'm sure that I'll eventually get midpipes (probably MadDad) just because I'm addicted to modding..lol. However, I'm currently not planning midpipes. I like my stealth sound as is and occasionally the smell bothers me (at drive-ins for example). So the minimal hp gains might not be worth the negatives for me, plus I'm broke.

I definitely like the AMS FMIC. That or the Helix and now the HPF seem the best choices to me. AMS is a great company. If they were local to me, no doubt that's the way I'd go as often as possible. I went with the smaller, less expensive ETS. They more readily offered anodizing and I like their piping and that no trimming was required.

Welcome to the site. Have fun with your modding, but try to not get addicted!

CPE Catted DPs, CPE non resonated midpipes, & the Maddad whisper axleback. You could check it out since you're local too once the 1er comes out of storage.

Guys,

I don't want to take this thread off track, but I want to clarify my understanding of exhaust systems. For example, if I were to buy an Active Autowerke or a Dinan exhaust, are these axle back systems that would attach to the stock midpipes? This is my understanding of an exhaust system:

exhaust manifold -> downpipe -> midpipe -> axleback exhaust system.

Is this accurate?

I appreciate your inputs.

Cheers.

Would love to hear sound clips of these combinations. I'll be getting the AA axel back soon, would be keen to add midpipes in the future, especially if AA comes out with any. Hope it's not too loud though.

would imagine it would be loud as sh%t since it would be virtually running straight pipes. The maddad mids have a resonator to help with noise reduction and drone...but still have really good volume

love TBE's but without a high flow cat on there it smells at idle and the cars behind you(if you care) will smell the exhaust especially going WOT...as a driver this gets me pissed off to smell this type of odor....feels like when i am behind a 20 year old car..they alway's smell bad because there is no cat... and IMO not worth the extra few ponies...That said. CP-E would be the way to go....great company and i loved there stuff on my old ride.

Have you had a chance to install the FMIC yet. Thinking about this one, but I'm looking for zero cutting.

Stock DPs, with full MadDad. Next step is catted DPs, CP-e most likely, would love is someone has a dyno with them. With JB3 on Map 5 and DP-back exhaust, the bottleneck is clearly in the stock DPs...
