BMW Won't let me buy a trunk mat! Other options?
Hey All,
I've tried twice now to order the trunk mat for my '08 128i and failed both times. Just got a message from the dealer saying after the order was placed yesterday that BMW has blocked the item. They had to order it from Germany because there were none in the states... I really would like some insurance against leaks in my trunk but I'm not sure about off brands... Any other options out there? Why the hell is the item available for order if you can't actually get one? http://accessories.bmwusa.com/ItemVi...productId=1013

I emailed BMW USA today asking about the issue, waiting on response.
I did go to tischer and placed an order through their site. Hope somebody has the OEM mat. I know there are other cheaper options but it appears that the BMW mat has a good sized lip on it. I like to haul ass around corners and yesterday that meant my 6-pack had 3 bottles of tastey brew fall out. I took it easy after I heard something rolling around but if one of those cracked open... yeah... Seriously, if BMW doesn't supply us with a real trunk mat I'm going to be a little pissed.

I assume the 128 also has the little storage net on the right side of the trunk? That's where I'll put a 6-pack without having to worry of it falling over.

Yes, that is a dilemma then. When I've had multiple 6-packs, I've put some on the floor behind the front seats. They have never tipped over, but it's not very useful if you have back seat passengers.

I agree. I was expecting more of a rubbery, grippy feel. Still better than the carpet though. A second net on the other side would be FANTASTIC.

Just get yourself a milk carton, or small plastic storage box. Keep your liquid stuff in there tucked in between some towels or microfibre mitts. Achor the storage box to the net with some short bungees.

I agree
I purchased one for my car a few weeks back...not what I was expecting...feels cheap. Waiting on weathertech to make it's version so I can swap it out.

Got an email fro Trischer saying my order was processed with a tracking number so I guess my dealer just sucks... oh well. Hope I'm not dissappointed with the mat but as long as it serves it's purpose I don't care if it feels cheap.

While you're waiting for the mat, don't forget that the battery is located under the trunk mat - so you might want to either ease off on your cornering speeds or store bottles elsewhere.

Exactly why I bought mine. Don't want to fry my electronics on a milk-run.

Agree with the assessment that it seems cheap especially compared to the one we have in the back of the Honda Odyssey that came from Honda. Ordered mine before Christmas from the local dealer and there was some issue that it had to come from Germany and then they sent the Euro model so they had to return and get the right one. But it finally arrived and fits well be seems plasticy.

The trunk mat does feel/seem on the cheap side. However it fits nice in the trunk and will do its job. If look closely, you can spot some metal shaving from when i drilled for the grocery grabber.
