Toronto Dyno Shops
Anyone recommend a shop/garage in the GTA for dyno runs? I want to baseline dyno my car before the spring hits when I plan to focus on performance mods.

i can set up a time for you if you would like to see tony the tiger from DMT. he runs dynos for both my car and bimmersports car. and he has done tuning on everyone of my friends cars.
his prices are good. also gives you data logging as well. so you can see your boost and your a/f ratio .

That would be great, I will be doing it early spring, I will connect with you then. Going to pull the JB+ out then baseline dyno with perf exhaust as only performance mod. Then I am going to get my spring service then install my drivetrain mods.

Tony at dynamotorsports will set you straight.
Best way is to e-mail them directly. They get back to you in less then 12 hours. and they are open late. Since I have known him, it always been 3pm and later. Works great for when you work during the day and have a hobbie. Stand up guy, stand up service, and stands next to his work. They have some dynos of 135s on their site vids and graphs too www.dynamotorsports.ca |

Charlie's 420 at the wheels is awesome. Is that with an AA Processor setup? John mentioned that their vert is setup with AA FMIC, AA Processor 2, AA BoV, AFE Intake, DPs (not sure what manufacturer) and BMW Perf Exhaust. I am curious if this is the same setup that was dyno'd there (link below)
http://www.dynamotorsports.ca/dynogr...rt135iDyno.jpg If so, I am sold on the AA package!

Thanks Shahab, I had asked John to put together a deal for me for the new year. I will connect with you on it when I get more firm info.
AA Processor 2 AA BoV AA FMIC AFE Intake Edit: I will be heading to Bimmersport to get my perf suspension installed early in the new year, so I will get a quote for a package deal then and PM you.

i would suggest if you are going to get things installed. you should install it all at once, since you will save yourself some money and time.
if you have any questions you can always ask me .

Totally understand and agree but I only have 3500kms on the car and I want to do my drivetrain after my first maintenance so I will not be able to bundle the suspension install with the drivetrain install considering the suspension is OEM and I can put that on the car without any BS from the dealer when I do my maintenance.

Also view tony's (DMT) dyno comparison vid.
I'm still waiting to sell my car but I ran a s/c specv it made 285whp on DMT's dyno. I ran at another dyno shop which ran a dyno jet( to prove a point it was a grudge thing and will not mention the name as they said I would never break 300whp, proved them wrong) I made 315whp on the dynojet. This is in direct relation to his video posted of his dynapak which actualy reads 15% lower then a dynojet(whch you will find in most shops). Only thing that I should note is as the horsepower increase this difference get smaller. for example tonys 980+whp supra reads only about 10% higher(I have not seen the video in a long time) on a dynojet. One thing I'm not sure of is when this decoupling begins...(these are arbitrary figures) say 400whp 14% 500whp car 13% 600whp 12% difference etc. So just a heads up when comparing numbers (which we all know is wrong anyways). That 420whp vert could translate to 15% postive on a dynojet or something less. Key is to have a consitent dyno to run on, and the DMT is one I would recomend as being your home tuner. You can take this info with a grain of salt, but to see progess just stay consitent with the dyno you choose. |

Yep, thanks Dread appreciate the info here. My intent will be to Dyno on the same machine to eliminate variances such that I get a pure comparison sheet.
What type of dyno is Tony's, Mustang? Edit: NM, did some reading on the site, Dynapack. Great comparison vid.

Tony's dyno is caled the "heartbreaker". He unlocked a good 20WHP out of my brothers 350z tune which was done at another shop. He is so damn knowledgeable and passionate about his tuning.
You won't be disappointed. Can i get some more info on this new AA stuff? I was looking at AA products, but I heard some complaints about the first processor; wasn't aware of the new one. |

Talk to either Shahab, or John or Charlie at Bimmersport about the AA package. It is a pretty awesome package and has demonstrated some pretty amazing gains on Charlie's car. Here is a link to the package on AA's site. They just finished making DPs so you can add that to the mix as well:

Quote:
AA original tune didnt have any problems. i still run the original processor. the only difference is instead of being able to run only two tunes. you can run all 8 tunes, similar to jb3. AA upgrades for the n54 includes the following downpipes exhaust processor 2 front mount intercooler blow off valve methanol kit short shift kit and for those who run stock airbox, they have k&n filter.

One last question, how do they dyno auto trannies? I love my step but the one beef that I have is that I cannot do a pull in one gear when the throttle is to the floor without the auto kicking it back a couple of gears. How does this convert on the dyno?

thought I'd put in a good word for Tony as well, tho reading everyone's posts I can see he's well represented on here. I've known him for nearly 10 years and used to cruise with him back when I used to enjoy playing with cheap rice and sleepers. He's done a lot of work on my previous cars as well and I've had nothing but great respect for his knowledge and love for cars. I wouldn't hazard to say he's the most knowledgable guy in town when it comes to Tuning just about anything. I remember the days when we used to hang out at a local BK and he could tell you exactly what car was coming around the bend just from the exhaust notes. Great guy, I'm sure you won't be disappointed with his work should you desire his help.
GL with your mods. tempting me to get back into it lol ^^ |
