TPMS

Hi everyone.. Sorry for my English, i’m French!!! LOL..

I just installed my winter tire on my car, and now the TPMS sign came on… I just wonder how the monitoring for this system work on a 135I. Cause I don’t have the rigid valve installed on my mag. So I guest the signal is not on the valve ?? how it’s work ??

I'm asking that, cause last winter i had no sign, and same thing when i put back my summer tire..

Thank

in canada there are no sensors in the tire, you just need to go into the manual and follow the reset routine. At least that is the way it is in the 128i. My understanding is the sensors are only used in the US, our cars apparently use one of the brake sensors to measure the wheel rotation and uses that to detect changes.

Yeah, the sensors are in the brake assembly on our cars, so no need to buy wheels/tires with them. Strange that it's having problems, it probably just detected an imbalance with the new tires and is thinking that one of your old ones is deflated. Reset and let us know how it goes!

your winter tyres must be 0.5 of your original tyre size (not the radius or the width...theres some other mesurement you need to take in consideration for which i forget the name) for the ABS system not to detect an imbalance that would cause the TPMS light to come on.

Studs in montreal? really I personally wouldn't be driving studs in a major city most roads are rarely covered with enough snow to warrant that. I guess unless you do a lot of driving outside of the city.
