A taste of the 5

First off, thanks for the ability to post here. I'm normally in the E90Post section but wanted to drop by and say hello to the 5 community. As you all are probably well aware, the fuel pump on the 335i is not the most reliable component in the car.

Which brings me to the 5. I have nothing but praises for my dealer and Monday was given the option of an X5 and a 525i as my loaner while my 335i underwent outpatient surgery. I chose the 5. I have to admit, I really never gave the 5 a hard look coming from a 328i to the 335i I thought I'd "need" to the 535i to make the extra "heft" worthwhile. Wrong thought. I really enjoyed the 525i and immediately appreciated the extra room. But the car also felt more solid, rode with great poise, but never felt "floaty" or unsure with a very quite ride. And this was a non sport package model.

Yes, the power isn't the same as the 335i but I come from the 328i and I absolutely LOVE that engine. It is very smooth and turbine-like in the power delivery. I felt like I could cruise effortlessly for 100+ MPH all day in this car, well not legally, that is!

Anyway, I've put the 5 firmly on my shopping list next time 'round. I almost didn't want to give the car back! Just thought I'd share what I'm sure many of you already know. Nice ride!

Aaron

Yes, I'll be checking out the 535i when the time is right.
