***N54Tuning*** JB3(1.4beta) Availability - Mini Promo!!!
I am happy announce that BMS has been making great progress on the JB3 development. I really thought 1.3 was going to be the revolutionary software version but I was wrong. 1.4 is just leagues ahead of 1.3 in drivability, smoothness, low-end response and it brings a new lag-fix algorithm which is a lot of fun to drive.
The 1.4 software is not in production yet but any order placed this month has the option to ship with a stable beta of 1.4 so you can experience what us beta testers have been raving about for weeks. To make this more enticing I am offering a small promo to get more of you in the drivers seat of a JB3 1.4 tuned car. Please PM me for the promo code, which you can then use for a little extra discount on my already **guaranteed lowest prices** Just click on the link below which will take you to the order page! http://www.n54tuning.com/index.php?_...d&productId=18 Additionally there is FREE SHIPPING on all order over $300.00 Here is a brief summary of the changes from 1.3: 1) Rewrote lagfix algorithms for stronger and smoother low end performance. 2) Made adjustments to eliminate the off-throttle wastegate rattle a few users reported when using lagfix maps. NOTE: These users reported no or much less rattle on non-lagfix maps. So if you rattle with the JB3 off or on non-lagfix maps, the suggested fix is still a trip to the dealer. 3) Adjusted boost targeting for smoother performance and reduced overshoot/oscillation below 4000rpm. Also increased high rpm targeting taper for reduced throttle closure at the shift points. 4) Reduced boost slightly @ 5500rpm, and increased boost slightly @ 6800rpm, on all maps, to level out the high end power band a bit. May result in a few less dyno glory HP per map but should make for an overall faster car. 5) Increased IAT boost decay slightly on maps 1-7. Also bad for dyno glory but better for on road performance. 6) Adjusted lower rpm PID tuning to reduce "wind up" in artificial conditions like starting dynojet runs @ 800rpm. 7) Setup internal PID algorithms for future dynamic barometric pressure calculations. Currently, baro is sampled when starting the motor. When driving up and down mountains this can result in under/over targeting as elevation changes until you restart. The new algorithm will sample baro with the motor running and we plan to include it in the next update. 8) By popular demand added a little more boost to map 1, to make it a better alternative for those on super low quality/questionable fuels. . |

God that torque drop is awful, AMS get that turbo kit out! Any news on implementing the JB3 with some sort of variable meth injection controller? I believe Terry mentioned something like that was in the works.

Quick update for everyone on the JB3 1.4 maps. I've been testing R8.3 for the past few days as I have a 6MT, and I must say this is really getting very good. BMS will be posting it tomorrow or the day after in the usual spot.
Here is a partial list of improvements from 1.3. 1) Dramatically improved lag reduction at all throttle positions 2) Smoother part throttle operation, particularly for manual cars 3) More top end 4) Revised barometric targeting and logic for improved performance above 3000' 5) And for you manual guys, bogfix 1.0, eliminating the nasty delay during fast shifts which is something I have been working on closely with BMS for the last little while. Here is a quick log from R8.1 showing the bogfix in action. Without bogfix, boost jumps over target when letting off the gas, resulting in major throttle closure while the ECU sorts it out. With bogfix, boost jumps quickly below target ready to rock the next gear as soon as you mash the pedal back down. With the latest R8.3 beta BMS has tuned the JB3 to hold more boost through the shift as well, really rocketing you in to the next gear. All in all fun stuff for us manual drivers. Will update this thread with additional logs as time/wife permits! . |

Have some exciting news for you guys. The 1.4 software is almost finished with just a little more testing to go. The better news is BMS has already started working on JB3 2.0! I am very excited as it will incorporate a lot of things customers have been asking for. Mainly, laptop connectivity, logging, and tuning adjustment. Of course, for those of you who like things the way they are, nothing will change. There is never going to be a requirement to connect your JB3 to a laptop.
It's going to be a free software download and will require you to have a JB3 Generation 3 board like we've been shipping for the past few months. Those of you with older boards will need to update to use this and I'm sure BMS will come up with an inexpensive path to do that. You also need a certain type of USB cable which BMS will carry for around $25. Below are some screen shots to give you a feeling for what BMS is looking to accomplish with 2.0. This software is 2-3 months away from formal beta testing so please don't contact me about testing it. We'll ask for testers when ready. This is just a teaser post and I don't have much more information other than what I've presented, but will update you guys as I get more. It's an exciting time to be a JB3 owner. Mike . |

How far away are we from having an iPhone app wirelessly connect to the JB3 and do the same things?

Some new screen shots from the upcoming 2.0....
Its very easy to use as all you have to do is hit "connect" to go online and "start" to begin the charting. The important parameters are selected by default, and can be removed, or others added, by selecting the "add" button next to each. BMS has also incorporated an optional TPS trigger point to only log at wide open throttle which saves hard drive space if you're doing runs at the track, dyno, etc, and don't want a lot of empty logs. There will also be a raw export to XLS option. Also a few people have asked and.... the map selection drop down is fully functional and comes in handy Mike . |
