buying z4 from craigslist...getting it shipped to me

BIMMERPOST / Classifieds
Asking Price:
None

Item Interest
buying a car online that i found on craigslist...

seller seems legit, talked on phone many times etc...originally planned on flying up there and driving it back and he was fine with that. at the last second i decided to just have it shipped instead. price is right, not an insane deal that screams scam.

got a bunch of quotes from different companies...anyone recommend any in particular?

anyone familiar with buying a car like this?

when should i send money to seller etc...

he first said for me to send him cashiers check, and he would send title. then could have car picked up whenever.

i don't wanna do it this way...is this how everyone usually does it? what way do you recommend instead.

there are a lot of scams, especially on craigslist.

i would fly up there if i were you, that way you can be sure and at ease about your purchase.

I spent $700 shipping a car from ATL to LA recently (not one i bought but a car we already owned). A flight would be cheaper and the ride back a lot of fun.

ill prolly just get him to make an ebay auction and just buy it now.

unless he is willing to keep the title, while car ships to me. and once i get it and all is well, then i send him the $$ and he sends title.

DON'T DO IT! Deals like this have SCAM written all over them. Even if you have talked to the guy on the phone, how hard is it to get a disposable cell phone from a 7-11? This guy may be legit but IMO a major transaction like buying a car is worth the extra effort. Go pick it up yourself.

You could use an escrow service...

I think it would be best to spend some cash and fly there to see it. Then you can even ship it while you are over there so you can see the car get on the truck.
