BMW voice command comparable phone???

I have Samsung Cellphone and it pairs no problem with BMW BT.
However I can't use the voice command to make a phone call and when I try it asks to repeat my command twice and say "phonebook empty"

I heard if the phone is comparable, BMW BT should transfer all the list to the machine and I should be able to make a phone call with voice command by saying the name.

My girlfriend has the iphone so I tried that but didn't work.
I am wondering what phones will be comparable with this voice command function.
Any list? or ideas?

The system does not transfer the phonebook from your cell to the car system. You need to add numbers yourself to have it in the car phonebook. Alternatively you can dial by number via voice commands if you know the number.

The manual doesn't tell me in detail how I can input the phone number.
Could you briefly tell me how i can do it?
or maybe the website link I can go read on.

Thanks a lot.

The manual doesn't. I believe there is a separate one just for the phone integration.

Basically it's done by voice command and I believe the command is Add Name. Then it walks you through it.

Do you find that the voice commands can't understand you?
I try saying store name, then input the number then say store number and it gets confused and shuts up!
Stupid system

No, once you know the "acceptable" commands it seems to work fine. Even when I have the top down and I'm moving it still is pretty good at picking up what I'm saying.

What amazes me is how fast I can say the phone number and 99% of the time it gets it dead on.

In the '09 models with iDrive it should transfer the phone book to the car, at least it did in the demo I was in, played with it for about 30min and my phone book was there.

Maybe you need iDrive for it to do that? That would suck, glad I didn't get BT in the end if thats the case.

Your right actually. I spent around 20 mins last night playing with it. I read the manual and it said say "Store name" however if you say "help" during the prompt it says to say "Save name" works perfectly now!

Stupid manual!

The phonebook does transfer but it doesn't transfer voice shortcuts from the phone.

I had the same problem with 'store name' but 'save name' seems to work I think and I have all of my common numbers working perfectly now

Adding the voice commands for the common numbers is great, its a real pain to search throught the interface with the steering wheel controls, especially since I can't see the display with my polarized sunglasses

I totally forgot about that. Yeah, the manual is wrong and I found it out via the voice commands.

I have not been able to get my phonebook to transfer from my BlackBerry to the car. Maybe it's a phone specific problem on my part.

I initially had the same problem with my nokia but they had an update for my phone which fixed the phonebook sync with bmw\other handsfree devices, since I updated the phone it has worked perfectly.

You might want to do some searches for your blackberry model and see if there are any fixes\patches but it is almost definitely phone specific.
