For those of you with the BMW Performance Exhaust..
Did you keep the tips or have the OEM tips put on? I'm going to get the OEM tips put on and was just curious what you guys did....

I didnt think I was going to like the perormance exhaust tips... but when I saw them in person, I think it looks a LOT better than the stockers...
Very last gen m3 looking. seem simple and elegant to me. No way in hell I would consider putting stockers on in their place. |

I kept the performance tips, and I like the look.
The only disadvantage, in my mind, is that the PP tips are the actual exhaust pipe, and they get hot during use. That's not a problem, but when they get wet with dirty water (in the rain, snow, etc.) the heat dries the dirt on. It cleans right off, but they get dirty quickly. If you put tips (like the stock ones) over the PP tips they will not get as hot, and they might stay clean longer (might, that is). Have Fun, Rick

Wow....I'm sort of suprised the performance tips is winning the poll...maybe I'll leave them when it get this installed tomorrow...havent really seen the tips in person yet it's just that my car is all black and I have removed all evidence of chrome...so I'm hesitant.

I put the black tips back on. I couldn't stand the chrome sticking out as far as they do.

Didn't know there was a clamoring for pics I'll try to get some pics snapped this week. As far as the sound goes...lets just say I'm stomping on the pedal whenever I get the chance. I had the install done a local shop called Milwaukee Motorwerks...

good call on the OEM tips... and it seems everyone with the performance exhaust had to shorten them, they all seem to stick out too far. I did.
The performance tips seemed, eh, cheap to me when I put them on. Maybe I'm a fan of the rolled lip, but they looked too frail on a beefy car like the 1. Plus, if you have shadowline trim, the perf tips don't make any sense on the car. Look totally out of place, IMO. |

Performance tips. Had mine done Fri at United BMW. It was done right. Tips are perfect and don't stick out like some of the photos I have seen. Makes the car growl more. Nice addition.

I will be keeping the exhaust as with the chrome tips, got it fitted yesterday and I think it looks great even without the CF diffuser

For those of you guys staying with the performance tips. Remember to wipe them down once a week. Stainless needs to break in and dirt will cause black spots and even some spot rusting if it breaks in dirty.
And the stainless tips are growing on me. I sorta like them. I still hate the look of the resonator tho. |
