Tire wear

Can anyone tell me how well the runflat tires last on the non-sport 128i tires? I am coming from a Lexus SC430 with big rims, and run flats. These tires need replacing every 20-25K miles. They were expensive to boot.

Anyone put enough casual miles on their tires to estimate milage they will last?

I will say in owning the SC430 for almost 6 years, I had one tire with a nail one time that leaked slow. I never had the need for a spare, and looking back am surprised, I was somewhat apprehensive not to have a spare.

My experience with BMWs is that the rears wear twice as fast as the fronts - not surprising for a RWD vehicle. Judging by the wear so far (13.5k miles) the Goodyear RFT rears on my Sport Package equipped 128i should last about 22,000 and the fronts about 45,000.

The Bridgestone 050A RFTs I had on a Z4 lasted nearly 30,000 miles with one front to back rotation - with mostly moderate highway & back road use. Since your non SP 128i will have the same size F & R tires - with a 400 treadwear rating, they should last (with rotation) at least 25~30k miles, if not more.

Naturally, due to differing driving styles and roads, (as they say), YMMV.

I can't say much for the 128. But, I am getting new shoes thrown on my 135 today. My runflats on the rear are G O N E. Way beyond the wear bars. Milage at this point is 9500 miles. But, I drive the SNOT out of that beastie.

generally, the RE050A don't last very long. they cost way too much as well. i've had good experience with falken tires. the FK452 lasted me almost 2 years in my daily driven RX8, i've even done a couple track days with them too!

OK, it's not a 128 but on my 135 I have 12,500 miles.
The Bridgestone RFTs have gone from 10/32" to 8/32" on the fronts and from 11/32" to 5/32" on the rears. I think the wear bars are at about 3/32".
I mostly drive in a rather conservative style.
