Stupid question...

Do the interior-most headlights on our cars serve a purpose? I cannot get them to turn on at all nor figure out from the manual how to get them to work. In my e46 M3 they would come one when you'd activate the high beams by pulling the blinker stalk toward you. This doesn't seem to work on the e90, at least not mine. Anyway, just curious.... sorry if this is a lame inquiry.

it turns on when you turn your steering wheel. Sit in your car at night, turn on the headlights and turn the wheel from side to side, you'll see them light up. When you put it in reverse, both lights come on.

they're called cornering lamps and, yes, they go on when reversing in addition to turning. i find them quite useful.

So let me get this straight, I knew they turned on in reverse and in turns but is there an exception.

I just thought about it for a second and was wondering if when I am at the track, will each turn on corner to corner coming into turns with their corresponding side?
Or is the car smart enough to know during a high speed situation to leave them off?
I just think it would be funny for people to see me coming in their rear view mirror and for them to think I am one of those silly people who signal on passing and in turns lol

They only work when you turn your light switch to the ADAPTIVE HEADLIGHT MODE. If you have you headlights off, they will not work.
