Sigh..HELP!!

so i got my tint done this weekend, now the dot matrix is driving me crazy. the guy, who did the tint, did a great job and warned me about it before hand. now i'm thinking of roof spoiler, which i think that it's a to begin with, to cover it. help! i'm in need of ideas on how to improve the dot matrix issue.

thanks!

This shouldn't be a big issue if your tint guy is a pro. You'll need to wait about 3 weeks (I waited almost 4 myself) and bring your car back to the tint shop. Get your guy to use his press down tool to give it another press down. If he has the tool with the velcro type end to it then it will press down even better.

Basically, the water between your window and the tint needs to dry up and the glue needs to get tacky. He'll have to heat up the rear window and then simply press it down. Mine came out 99% pressed down. 1% is still visible but only to my eyes and that's just because I know exactly where the few small spots of dot matrix still appear.

Cheers!

pardon my ignorance, what is dot matrix. I've had my previous cars tinted, and I'd never had that problem; even with the E36 M3.

Mine looked just like that when I first got it done. Now it looks sooo much better. Like I said before, almost 100%.

If you are not the patient type you can have your tint guy cut below the dot matrix and they should be able to install and piece of vinyl over the matrix. This is what I did and it looks fine.

Wow, maybe I'm "misreading" the picture but that looks pretty bad. I had my windows tinted and while there were some white spots at the very ends, it seems like your problems extend quite far away from the edge of the window. (?)

Check out other pictures on the forum. I could very well be wrong, but I don't think it should be like that.

Sorry I couldn't be more helpful. Good luck!

+1, mine was pressed down as hard as could be, but still the tint over the dot matrix settled on the glass unevenly. It's acceptable looking, but not "nice"

"99% perfect" is sooooooo subjective when it comes to opinions. With that being said, I agree that time will help.

Don't do the roof spoiler unless you wanted one anyway. Mine wasn't that bad, but I wasn't thrilled with how it looked either. I took it back a week later and they worked on it for 10 or 15 minutes and it's great now. There's hope that it'll be fine. If they can't get it how you like it, ask them to cut it and have them run black vinyl across there.

Hey Spyderco10, where'd you get your tint done? TnT?

Hey Spyderco10, where'd you get your tint done? TnT?
Got mine done at Pacific Window Tinting, a guy named Jerry Baxter. He's really good, it's just that the dot matrix sticks up from the glass. You know how the dot matrix starts small and then gets larger as it goes up the glass. So the tint sticks unevenly as it goes towards the top part. It's OK, I wouldn't cut it off and put black vinyl, but it's not perfect. By the way he uses Solargard.

Rocky Moutain Tint in Livermore told me that they are really good with the dot matrix and will guarantee their work...

But the guys at Premier say they simply put a layer of black vinyl over the dots...

This is certainly not perfect, but it seems markedly better than the pics the OP posted.
