Going from RFT to non RFT's
Im considering going from RFT's to non RFT's but have a question.
The OEM RFT's RE050A RFT has the load rating Front:85Y and Rear: 88Y. My question is can i get a non RFT tyre with the same load ratings or do they have to be higher as they dont have the stiff sidewalls? ie is the load ratings comparable for RFT's and non RFT's?? was considering the direzza sport Z1. I know its been fitted onto a 135 before but i want to know if its safe and approved by BMW? |

Don't believe you need to be worried about it. As well, I do not really read BMW approvals for tires. I've always bought the tires that suit me, not the tires that suit the maker of my car. If you have any further questions, ask Gill, the moderator of this section.

BMW required a "standard load" tire in this size. Translation, any tire in the appropriate size is going to have more than enough load capacity for the vehicle.
It's not something you'll have to worry about. Gill

You can put any tire you want on the car. You might have a hard time if you wanted an economy tire on your car but any performance road tire will carry the load of the 135i. I think you need to look at the speed rating and not the load rating. I think that is the main concern of someone installing tires on your car the speed rating matches the performance of the car.
