New (used) shoes for the 135i
I finally installed the wheels and tires I took off my Z4 on the 135i. The rears fit really tight with no rubbing noticed yet, fronts fit great. I had a good test drive on a private road and the rear end was really loosing traction easy. In second with the clutch out going straight I could punch it and loose traction, my car is bone stock but it felt like it had lots more power since the tires spin so easy. Out of a turn it was really easy to get the rear end around to steer out of a turn. However it was far more predictable when the rear end did break loose than the Brigstones that came with the car. I could drift really easy with total control. These wheels and tires on my Z4 3.0i are far better grip in the straights and corners than the Brigstones that came with the car. I don’t understand when I put a wider tire on the rear the car has less traction than the stock tires:iono:. When I had this wheel/tire set up on the Z4 it was better traction all around. Anyone have any insight to this. BTW the tread remaining on the rear is 5/32 so there is quite a bit of tread left. These tires did give me more road feel than the Brigstones.
I did not have the TPMS installed in these wheels so I now have the warning light. I will live with the dash light until I decide what I want to do. As for the looks, this set up looks ok to me but I really liked it on the Z4. Below are the Specs on what I have. WHEELS: ASA AR1 TIRES: Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3 FRONT 18x8 Offset 45 225/40ZR18 REAR 18x9 Offset 40 255/35ZR18

Well the tires should have more grip, but perhaps the wheels are light enough to allow the torque to break them loose easier? Or perhaps you're just excited to have them on so you're a bit more aggressive with throttle input???

Looks fantastic. How old are the tires? could there be some hardening on the outer layer of tread?
It may just be the angle, but it looks like your Z4 may have had a slight toe on the front left wheel. The inside edge looks a bit worn in the 2nd pic. How about the rears, even wear? |

The ASA AR1's are really nice wheels, especially for their price. I had a set on my old E39. I am think the TQ levels on the 1er are higher therefore the threshold of grip on the tires is lower....
