Quality of CSL Replica Wheels?
I am considering these wheels and while doing some research on them I came across the following thread. I am just wondering how the replica wheels are holding up that people have bought and/or had any similar issues discussed on the thread. I am not taking any sides, just throwing it out there. If it is a repost I apologize.

VMR has a well-deserved reputation on the e46 and e90 forums, we have been running the wheels since day one on our e46 M3 and run them also on our e92 M3. We'll be putting the wheels on our new 135, keep an eye for more info on a new thread. Do a search on any of the forums for CSLs and 9 times out of 10, they are VMR wheels. Being VMR's largest stocking distributor - we can speak from experience. All measuring and fitment are performed at our facility to verify compatibility. No wheel is bulletproof, yet the VMR wheels are very strong. As per the finish, as long as you clean them regularly with soap and water (no acidic cleaners) - you can expect your wheels looking like new for years to come. If you have any questions regarding VMR wheels, feel free to contact myself of Jurrian directly and we'll be happy to assist.

Not trying to start a fire here... but what pisses me off about the people who are bitching and moaning about the wheels is that THERE'S NO PICS. Back up your claims with pictures or something. It's one thing to make claims, it's only valid when you got the evidence that we can see...
I'll be the own judge of my CSL rep's when they come.

Tires will determine how much weight is used. All VMR wheels are balanced on a Hunter GSP9700 Roadforce Balancer so there are no worries - just bolt and go.

coming up on 3 weeks and about 1500 miles on my csl's and they look just as great as they did when i got them (i immediately cleaned and checked my wheels after reading this). The finish is flawless with no chips, nicks, or cracks to report. :w00t:

VMR is definitely a reputable brand. All of their wheels are JWL and VIA certified and are warrantied for 1 year against any defects in manufacturing or paint. You certainly cannot go wrong with their setups, we've carried them for over 4.5 years and have been consistently pleased with their quality and construction.

Ive had mine for a while now, and they are the best wheels ive ever had, the only thing i hate about them is it takes so damn long to clean them.
But its worth it in the end.

Soap and water is the best way to do it. Don't use acidic cleaning agents, as they can deteriorate any wheel you use them on. Just clean them every time you wash the car, which should be every 2 weeks

I've been using these wheels on my E46 for over a year now and I think they're pretty good. They "chip" instead of being "scratched" like my original OEM wheels, but that's when I run them up on the curb trying to parallel park (boston is tough, heh). That's partly my fault for mounting tires that were a bit too narrow for the rim.
Other than the edges which hit the curb, they're pretty much flawless so I'd definitely consider buying another set for my 135i. |
