Will Stock tires work with CSL reps?

Hey gang,

Just curious, If I get some 18" CSL wheels, would the 215/40/18 stock front tire work with the 8.5" wide CLS wheel, or is the tire to narrow for the wheel?

Also, would the 245/35/18 stock rear tire work with the 9.5" wide rear CSL?

Any help is appreciated.

Ryan

Wouldn't recommend it - the rim will stretch the sidewall.

New tires will allow you to rid of those god-awful runflats as well.

They will stretch the tires but the 8.5 and 9.5 rim widths are within the rim width range of the OEM runflat tire specs.

Just to make sure everyone is on the same page... Using the stock run-flat tires on CSL 18"s is not recommended by us. We like to run just a bigger tire in the front because running a 215mm-width tire on a 8.5" rim will stretch the tire out (meaning the width of the wheel is bigger than the tire).

The best example I can give is this picture:

NOTE: This is not what the 215 size tire will look on the 8.5" wheel. This is just an extreme example of what stretched tires look like. *EXAMPLE!*

Now, to be quite honest, you can absolutely run those tires in front, if you WANT to, it's just a recommendation (as Tom says above) that you run a bit bigger tire in the front.

I hope this helps everyone curious about the CSL wheels

Like others mentioned, go with a size up on tires as the 215 is too stretched for the 8.5
