235 on the stock 7.5 inch rims?

As the title suggested, can 235 tyres fit on the factory 7.5 inch wide rims? Thanks.

Though not ideal they will fit. This is the way the 95 ///M3 was set up here in the US.

When you say not ideal, will it cause me issues on the track?

The 7.5 is a little narrow for the 235 tread width. That said I put over 200K miles on my ///M3 with 235 on 7.5's on all four corners. Several drivers events, numerous auto X's and lots of twisty mountain roads and never had any issues.

That size is outside of manufacturer specifications for that wheel width, so the tire companies are telling you that it won't fit.

Many people run that size on that rim with no issues.....but if there is an issue, which there could be at any time, everyone is going to look at you and say, "I told you it didn't fit." It all boils down to whether you are comfortable with the risk.

The 1995 M3s came with 235 width tires on 7.5" wide wheels from the factory.

That is correct. 235/40/17, but that doesn't change the math.:iono:

It is odd they would do that and open themselves to a host of issues if there were problems.

Hmm, you guys are confusing me! If it's good enough for BMW M3, I guess it can't be that bad???

IIRC correctly my old A4 had 235 45 17s on 7.5 inch rims.
