Order of modding - What do you think?
order, mod, location, cost
tinting mr tint $300 spoiler, black grille, skirts, roundel Dan $1,500 pedals, break, handleshift, knob, Dan$400 wheels, tires Dan and TR$3,000 Short shift kit Dan$600 oil CC RR$250 suspension Dan$1,500 brakes Dan$2,500 exhaust RR$1,500 intake RR$500 downpipe RR$1,500 total$13,550 Don't want to increase the boost so I am not tuning, I just want to go on improved flow. Not sure if i will even want the downpipes. I'll have to hear them on someone elses first. Might have to add front bumper to the equation cause it looks sexy too! either way what do ya think? should I change any of the order around? expected horsepower? 0-60 time? 1/4 mile? P.S. I just did some guesstimating on cost of product and installations which i probly undershot but whatever, dont kill me on that please!

sounds good, but for me, scratch the 2nd one, 4th for now, probably 5th, probably 6th for now, 7th, 8th for now, 9th. yeah im not a hardcore modder, but I do like the fun things, for me the permance chip or piggy back or...undecided really is gonna be thrown in there at some time.

I'd do wheels and tires first.
Intake will add a negligible among of HP to a stock car. With the setup Above, I'd expect the car to run SLIGHTLY faster than stock. Perhaps 13.2-13.4@106-108 or so. One or two mph faster than stock.

Tires/wheel and suspension first. Lay the groundwork first, then do powertrain mods. (Though you may want to do the oil catch can also from what I've heard -- it's not $250, though, is it?)
I don't see the point of the brake upgrade if you already have a 135i, though -- the BMW Perf brakes are basically the stock 135i brakes, just painted a different color. |

I would start with SSK (one of the best purchases I've made for my E46), and the wheels/tires/suspension, THEN do power mods. That's something you can enjoy every day. Normally I personally would do tint first, but I live in Texas, not Massachussetts. Leave the visual stuff until last, the 135 already looks great IMO.

if your keeping the power the same ( no tune) then wheels and tires and a few interior dress up pieces will be the biggest eye candy. If your gonna add some pony's, do suspension and brakes first. Always lay the ground work to be able to handle and stop the power.

What are you doing to the brakes for 2500?? The 135 already has pretty damn good brakes... if you are not upping the horsepower plenty..as in dropping a tune in it.. then you don't need to mess with the brakes.. I wld keep the brakes stock even with a tune...

I believe in doing the “go” then the “show“. You have a real good list and should end up with a nice car in the end. I would change up the order and the power a bit, but that’s me.
Also I not sure if you will get much power by opening up the flow with a stock tune. don’t expect too much. There are reports of the intakes decreasing power after a while with a stock set up. If you have more boost (even a mild increase like jb1 or sstt) you will get more out of opening up the flow. Here is my take on your list (I added a tune and sprint booster): Round 1 (get rid of things that bug me) sprint booster tinting mr tint $300 Short shift kit Dan$600 Round 2 handling wheels, tires Dan and TR$3,000 suspension Dan$1,500 brakes Dan$2,500 Round 3 power tune exhaust RR$1,500 intake RR$500 down pipe RR$1,500 oil CC RR$250 (as needed) lager intercooler and oil cooler Round 4 bling spoiler, black grille, skirts, roundel Dan $1,500 pedals, break, handleshift, knob, Dan$400 I like to do mods in rounds or waves. once I get the round right (drive and adjust for a couple of weeks) then I go to the next round of mods. I hope you keep us informed on your build out and post pics. Good luck !!!

haha thanks for the comments, I chose my order based on the fact that this car is twice as fast as my old car! seriously 0-60 in 9.8, lol. So i figured before i made it any faster I would make it how i wanted it to look, but good thoughts on adding a small boost increase from like a jb1 or sstt. Do any of these tunes let you control your boost though? I would like to be able to cruise around town on a smaller boost if i wanted to and turn it up when I wanna do some spirited driving. possible?

no, but neither is off the hook. they only add around 2-4 psi. If you dont add a sprint booster for the lag, it is my understanding both are tame unless you push it. great for a DD with a nice suprise.

Here's my personal order of upgrades/mods:
1. Tint 2. CDV delete 3. Tires - I absolutely HATE the RFTs. A good set of tires is a performance upgrade in and of itself! 4. BMS JB2 - I initially don't want to run as much boost as the JB3 offers, but the upgrade policy is fantastic so I may swap to the JB3 down the line. 5. Oil catch can 6. Intake - Leaning towards the BMS dual-cone setup. 7. Nuvi GPS bracket - Nice, clean GPS solution with no external wiring.
