Power seat memory

Picked up my 1er a week ago...what's the deal with the power seat memory. Is it suppose to return the seat to its position when you unlock the car with the key remote, or when you start up the car? I didn't get comfort access, but was under the impression that this feature was available with the standard remote. Not true? Thanks.

that would be different than older bmw's

I dont have comfort access on my wifes x5, but the seats adjust to whoever's key is in the ignition, along with the radio, mirrors, and steering wheel

my r56 mini adjusts the radio and possibly the ac to whoever's key is used

The seats aren't adjusting to the keys thus far...do I need to take it to the dealership to have the program the remotes or something?

Check the vehicle settings. There's more than one option for recalling seat memory.

+1. Go into your vehicles options. At least in my 325i, I can select the memory seats to adjust with car unlocking, or with door opening, and I think also with ignition, and I think there is an off setting as well.

Try pages 41 and 42 of your owner's manual for complete instructions on how to make your power seat behave.

You have to go into the personalized setting menu...look at the owners manual because some of the symbols are tricky for 1st time owners. There you can change the settings to making the seat move whenever you want it to i.e unlocking car, key in ignition, etc.

Don't you have to choose a memory position, too? Too lazy to look it up but mine (assigned to memory position 1) always greets me with the correct position. Knuckle-heads at work like to 'play' with the seat position when they fondle the car.
