BMW already testing the 4-cyl turbo.

Came across this over on bimmerfile:
The 1-series in this set is what is really interesting to us. Our insiders reported to us about a month ago that BMW was testing something new in the 1. Other clues we were given at the time were that the mule had a single blacked out tailpipe (like the 135i but only 1), different wheels and a kit similar to the current 135 though not identical, at the time we were unable to confirm this information but now that we do see BMW is testing something in the 1 we thought we would spill the beans! The car in this set is sporting EU lights so this is not a US spec car… Could this be the upcoming 4 cylinder turbo?

I'd hope it was the DCT gearbox, honestly. If the 135i goes to a 4 cyl turbo option only, I'll prolly have to skip it and save for the 335i.

I doubt they go to only a 4 cyl turbo option, but you would wonder about it being an additional option on top of the 128 and 135.

If they came out with a 1 with a 4 turbo I would be sooo onboard! I can see it being like a baby 135i but like a 120i...A 2.0 turbo with an M kit and DCT! OMG I would trade in my 330i right now!! Pricing around 25-26K I think would be reasonable!

Interesting. Wont come to North America though is my first thought. 123d would be more likely to make here than a gas turbo 4-banger, and they've pretty much already said boo to the 123d.

I'm assuming it's a 123d here for testing.

I would hope they do it, like the original 2002 that came in a 4cyl turbo

bmw knows how to get power out of them, the 2002 block was good for 1500 hp back in 1980 and 1000hp in race trim
