Hood lining missing?

Just got my 135i. Love the car more than I imagined, but looking under the hood I see there is no hood liner, like in the trunk lid. Is this normal for the 135i. Is it due to the twin turbos needing better air flow. I know the bottom vents are for the turbos but I figured there has to be a reason and that's the only conclusion I could come to. Can anyone enlighten me.

Also, I did search on this topic and tried many different words and titles, but nothing comes up.

I will take some pic's in a min... its the insulation that is usually under the hood of a car. I have seen the 128's have it but I don't know about the 135.

While mine has an underhood insulation liner - some haven't - I'm clueless as to why some do and others don't - this question has shown up in a couple of threads and the last I heard was that if you don't have one you won't get one (free at least). But it wouldn't hurt to complain (politely ; -).

Here's a pic:

For grins I added a poll to this M2 - I wonder if the absence of a hood liner is determined by transmission choice. Hope you don't mind (too much ; -).

Well - that idea's busted - we got folks with hood liners and manuals and those without. Let me try something else.

135 manual, Feb build, no hood liner, even with outside temp of 10 degrees celsius I can see a heat shimmer just above the hood after 15 minutes of driving.

so would no lining let the heat get away from the engine better?

Feb build date and no liner..........but the poll categories changed???
When I voted they were just the transmission choices now they are build months. I voted for MT and no liner but I didn't vote for a build date. How is this now accurate? :iono:

I changed them to test theories - the latest doesn't work either. I was hoping a pattern would emerge that showed some logic behind why some would get liners and others didn't.

At first I thought it may be selecting premium package got you the head liner. But the OP has ZPP. Then I tested if it was transmission selection. Nope. Last I tried testing build date - and that doesn't fit a pattern either. So I'll close the poll and maybe chalk up the reason for not getting a hood liner as being one of life's little mysteries (courtesy of BMW ; -).

It is a big surface area for the heat to radiate away from. Good idea while air is moving over the car but in a traffic jam you could fry an egg on the hood.
