What's in the trunk (i.e. someone stole my toolkit)

So I picked up my car after waiting 7 weeks after my ED dropoff.

Unfortunately, when I got home I realized that someone stole the little toolkit that comes with the car. (They left the toe hook, which was nice of them.)

Some my question is, can someone give a rundown of what's in the toolkit, and anything else that should be in the trunk so I can yell at my dealer today?

Unless you received something different than me, I would hardly call a tow hook and screw driver/phillips "various tools".

I remember the days when BMW's had real toolkits. If something on the road broke, you actually had a chance of doing a quick repair . . .

I had the same thing happen to me, it was the one thing I forgot to take so I e-mailed Dan at United to see how much it would cost to replace it. Still deciding if it is worth it to replace it. These prices are after our 1Addicts discount:

Bag $11.42
Towing Hinge $19.55
Screw Driver $3.94
End Spanner $4.50

i just got a scredriver and a tow hook in that bag, so not a big deal, sounds like all you lost was the bag and the screwdriver

Just go to sears and pick up a few multi-tools and a canvas bag or a small tool kit with its own plastic case. Nate

I was informed during European Delivery to only take the first aid kit and reflector triangle with me. The tool kit is to be delivered with the car along with the floor mats. Since your car is missing a complete tool kit it sure sounds like a warranty claim that your dealership should make to BMW NA and provide a replacement to you.

My dealer told me that only European 1 series will come with the first aid kit even though I don't remember the instructional manual saying that. Anyone get a first aid kit with their car?

I got a first aid kit and the warning triangle.....but I live in germany and we are required to have these in the car no matter if they are european spec or american spec but it doesnt seem like it got added extra....I think what happens is sometime between the cars leaving the production plant to ending up in your possesion someone conviently takes it out and sells it

I got the First Aid Kit, Triangle, and the tool kit. They made it ABUNDANTLY clear to me that I MUST take these items, and any other loose items with me if I ever want to see them again, along with my front license plate. They even gave me a gray carry case that said "BMW WELT" on it for that reason. I was also told very clearly that they will NOT replace them if they are stolen. If I didn't listen, it was my own fault. If you are doing ED, make sure you take it with you!!!!

P.S. I never check baggage, and I had NO problems taking the toolkit on the aircraft.

before you beat him...pull out your manual and flip to page 127-128....Why the hell would BMW put in a section on First Aid pouch and Warning Triangle in the Manual and not give them to you..... Also to anyone that did not get a tool kit or only got a Tow Hook and did not do ED go to your dealer and demand they give them to you free because they were to come with the car!

The manual states : Onboard tool kit
The onboard tool kit is stored beneath the floor panel in the cargo bay.

and im assuming if you werent suppose to get something it would look like page 125:
The tools for changing wheels are available as optional accessories from your BMW center

In the manual neither the tool kit, first aid kit, nor the warning triangle say that

The toolkit should contain more than the tow hook. It is my understanding however that the First Aid kit and Triangle were only on ED because they were required for driving in Germany. Why they wouldn't put them on everything I don't know... but why wouldn't they put in the Rear foglight switch either? BMW NA does strange things.

i know the tool kit contains more than the tow hook i was saying if you didnt get the rest of the tool kit besides a tow hook....as far as i can tell by the manual you are to get the first aid kit and warning triangle...if it were country oriented it would say in the manual
