JB3 0-60 & 1/4 mile runs
From N54tech:
Hey guys, Decided to do a little 0-60 testing with the 135i tonight. On a private road of course! Car is an automatic, and completely stock except for the JB3 beta. I filled the tank with 91 Shell to get more weight over the tires, but even so the run flats were just not up to the task and would spin through 1st gear. I started off running a handful of 4.4s. Then I decided to launch a little easier and got a couple 4.3s, and finally a couple 4.2s. There may be a 4.1 in there with a cool down (doing 10 back to back runs got the oil temps past 250), but without better tires I don't see it going much quicker than that. For those not familiar I use a Performance Box GPS based device to measure 0-60, which is more accurate than the average GTech or FX2. It's similar to what the magazines use. Runs were done back and forth on the same stretch of level private road. Most of my 335i runs are on drag radials with more mods so its hard to give an apples to apples on 135 vs 335, but I plan to bolt the drag radials on the 135 soon to see if I can dip in the 3s. The 335i has run a best of 3.5 0-60 with all its mods (JBX, downpipes, intake, lighter rims) on 100 octane. http://www.n54tech.com/forums/showth...9971#post19971 |

I do not believe the equipment is accurate? There is a lag in when it starts measuring, so you always get a better time than what it really was (likewise most mags). The way I did it is using a OBDII key which obviously plugs into the OBD pod, which then bluetooth the signal to a GPS device. The GPS device then calculates the timing and the speed. Unfortunately we stuffed up on my runs and were measuring 0-98kmh (we wanted 0-100kmh, but 60mph is only 96kmh).

Bluetooth latency is MUCH greater than the tiny lag in accelerometers. Most of those devices are accurate within a tenth.

Certainly would be interesting to see some runs with the same car, same conditions, same measuring equipment, but with better tyres  |

those are truely some impressive times with the stock tires! have you seen any boost spikes yet from your jb3? have you used your lean cruising mode (2-3 psi)?

I think that's on 91 octane too.
I'm going to try the JB2H with ~100octane tonight. Dunno if I'll get anywhere those numbers, but it will be fun trying. |

Agree - very impressive........^^^^
I'll have to keep my eye on any further developments on this one  Just one question - how come the distance reads out as 24,659.8ft ?? or is that a total/cumulative figure ?? 1/4 mile is approx. 1,320ft |
