The 1 is for me.

I've made the decision. I'm going to get a 135i.

As someone who has, for the most part, daily driven a S2000 for the past two years, the 135 perfectly embodies what I need out of my next car: immense power, great looks, fairly small package, great handling, and above all... COMFORT!

My journey to be financially ready begins now, so the wait might be a bit. As a recent college graduate (boiler up!), I'm trying to be smart about painting my financial picture. My S is paid off, and I'll be saving throughout the winter months for a good down payment on a slightly used 08. I've been trolling around this board for months... and can't wait for my day to come, whenever that may be.

Great choice! Have any pics of the S2000? What % are you planning to save for your down payment?

My goal is to have $15-16k down on a used 08 model. That shouldn't be too shabby.

I'll throw up some pics of my S tonight. This forum reminds me of re ol' s2ki days... Such a niche group of performance car enthusiasts. Love it.

Good way to do it. I applaud young guys actually putting money down on a car. So many just finance it all. Saving for something for 6-12 months makes it that much sweeter when you get it, and there is nothing better then a "paid off" sports car

You go to Purdue? I was actually there last year, but I transferred back to Boston, the midwest wasn't for me.

FWIW, not sure I'd want to drive a 1er year round out there, last winter was pretty nasty and it did a number on my 3er.

Agreed. I did the same thing with my S, and paid it off during college. I've seen too many friends graduate and finance $30k+ cars with HUGE payments. I'm fortunate enough to graduate with relatively little in loans, and don't feel it would be right to put myself under a mountain of debt for a car.

Yup: Purdue grad. Never been to the east coast, actually. Would love to. I own a 90' Accord that I drive on those snow-ridden days. I'm not getting rid of that thing until it just dies. It's Mr. Dependable.
