If you're talking to be similar to the 09 version.. no. They are very different hardware, dashboard, screen size, controls, etc.

of course there will be a map update... there is one every year.

if you mean upgrading software to the 09, i highly doubt it

My first 135i did not split screen during NAV steps. My second 135i automatically displays a split screen with each turn and offers a grahic representation of the turn. I have wondered if BMW updated the NAV software mid-way through the '08 model year.

It is easy to update more than just maps. The question is whether or not BMW will provide operational updates, not just updated maps... and that is an unknown.

I certainly hope so, but the current system is very good, and is more than adequate.

Under info/display, IIRC, you can tick the box next to arrow view to get the split screen.
