well i just ordered a 128

I've been interested in the 1 since they came out and i saw the 135i in the detroit autoshow. over the last 3 months i've slowly been falling out of love with my 2006 Subaru STi. I think i'm getting to old to have a race car as a daily driver and i'm too vain to drive a beater.

After doing some research and test driving and cross shopping I decided to go ahead and get an Alpine White, tan interior 128. pretty sparse on the options - leather, sport package, heated seats and i'm alright with that.

my coworkers said i sounded like a snob because i said "i'll actually be saving money by stepping down into this bmw"

I'm pretty excited but also a little bit nervous that i did the right thing.

Have you test driven it? That should do the trick.

yeah, i test drove a 128 auto, no sport package. and a 335i 6spd. funny thing about that, i asked the sales guy if they had a 3 series in manual so i could feel the clutch and shifter (i had only felt M series in the past). he checks, goes sure i have a 335i, grabs the key and a plate. i wasnt expecting to drive it, but i sure wasnt going to turn him down when he offered.

Once you drive it you'll never look back. It's a fantastic car.

The same people calling you a snob will pay 40k for a truck or 32k for a loaded Accord. You are going to smile everytime you hit the START button

I've always thought how strange that is. I've driven nice, older, well-kept BMWs for most of the past 6 or 7 years. People always make comments about my cars and my supposed income, but when I look at what they're driving, they're usually trucks or SUVs that cost upwards of 30-40 grand. Doesn't make much sense. :iono:

You will not regret it.

In fact, you'll likely consider it one of the best car purchases you ever made.

You're right, it's more of an image thing than a money thing.

Oh well, at least you're honest about it. I understand the motivation to polish your image a bit as you progress into your late 20's and early 30's too (hmm...is this lifestyle choice going to help or hurt my ability to be taken seriously by similarly-aged members of the opposite sex?)

It's a good mix of sport to keep the boy racer in you happy enough, while giving off a more mature/tasteful image to keep you from looking like kid in a suped up Subaru or Mitsubishi.

...i'm starting to get a little crazy with anticipation now, only made worse when i talked to the dealer today.

They were going to have the one i wanted transported from another dealer, and have not heard back from that other dealer yet. I'm going through all sorts of what-ifs. i get so bad at this patience thing...

Congratulations. Actually, you're getting a car pretty quick!! Most people have to order, and wait about 2 months. You look like you will be getting yours in under 2 weeks. You won't regret it.
