I was looking at a AW vert a few weeks ago, and it was sold but could not be delivered b/c the windshield was broken during transport, said it was near impossible to find glass for it b/c it was so new. I hope things are better for you.

There's an awful lot of cracked/chipped winshields reported. Should this be of a concern, or are we all anal about this kind of stuff and report it here?

Tell us the whole story!!! A couple other guys here broke theirs by extending the windshield wipers and then opening the hood. Is that what happened to you? If so you're not alone, I've read about at least two other members who've done that.

There are windshields available, I've already had mine replaced. Apparently, the 1-ers are going though them rather quickly though.

Same issue on the E90's. I had one break on me and shared that with many other frustrated owners on E90Post. While they build an excellent car, I believe the glass is not the best for the 3. Hope it is not the same on the 1.

actually i think its funny...i was driving down the road... in the middle of nowhere and there was a car infront of me maybe 4 lengths and it kicked up a rock....i saw the rock from the instant it kicked off the ground and watched it the entire way as it crossed over my car... it seemed to go slow-mo like the matrix... I am now officially calling and getting my deductable lowered to $50 for comprehensive!

Mine was gravel kicked up by a truck. I'm so glad I got the windshield protection. Cracked windshield within one week of taking delivery--yeah, it's already paid for itself.

Same thing happened to me yesterday while a truck entered the highway from a slip road. I saw the rock come flying in from the side matrix-style and put a "bullet hole" sized crack on my screen. Luckily in the UK with comprehensive insurance, I can get it repaired free of charge. The auto-glass people are coming to repair the screen tomorrow morning.
