750kms and engine light comes on.

It's probably only some emissions or oxygen sensor thing. Waiting for the dealer to call me back for a service appointment.

Very disappointing considering how much fun I was having with the car. I'm sure it'll be fine though. It'll be interesting to see how my first experience with the service department goes.

same thing happened to me about two weeks after getting my car. Turned out to be a faulty fuel tank vent valve on mine. The check engine light didn't bother me, but when I filled up the tank, the fuel tank vent would back up with fuel, and cause the engine to stall. It would start again after a bit of cranking, and be fine until the next fill up. They replaced the valve, and all is good again.

Let us know what the cause is. And a word of warning, as it is a new car, parts may have to come out of germany....It took a month to get the valve for my car.

I don't know if this helps anyone, but if the dealer puts the order to Germany and says that you are NOT driving the car (it's waiting at the dealership), they put a rush on it. My PDC part took about 4 days to get here, and yes another 1-2 weeks for the dealership to arrange car rental, and put it in etc. Anyone else got info on that (rush order)?

Thanks for info and advice guys. I got through to the service department and they noted, as I thought, it's probably some emissions thing.

After seeing j8smith's post above I did go check the gas cap and opened and closed it but it is still showing the light.

I have an appointment on Monday afternoon to see what it is.

If you have the orange check engine light, then yes it is an emissions system problem. But the emisson system includes the fuel vapour control system also, so it could be any number of things. It probably isn't you gas cap, because there is a second warning that comes up in the center lcd display that tells you if the cap isn't sealing properly. Another common cause is the fuel tank diagnostic valve.

Well, for some reason this morning the light cleared itself. I started and stopped the car at least 6 times since yesterday and it was always on. Not sure what made it clear this last time.

I think I'm going to cancel my Monday appointment if it stays cleared this afternoon. I'll get it looked at when I bring it in for a 2000km oil change.

Thats good news. service told me that it takes 5 complete cycles for the light to shut off once a fault goes away. 1 cycle is start from cold, run till engine is warm then shut off and cool down.

5 cycles would be exactly what I did before it disappeared. Good to know. Thanks.
